Sumatra Thread!

Hi everyone,
Will anyone have available hatching eggs to sell/ship next year? I am interested in Large Fowl and I live in Virginia.
The more I research Sumatras, the more I like them. I understand they are:
- Good foragers.
- Have good predator awareness and agile to have a chance to escape.
- Have great parental instincts.
Plus, from the pictures I see in this thread, they look like beautiful elegant birds. I'd love to see a flock of these roost in my trees.
Please message me or send me an email at [email protected]

Happy Thanksgiving

Spurs on a hen? I've never seen that before. Do Sumatra's do that frequently or is that rare?

I have seen spurs on hens in several different breeds. While it is not
very common it does seem to occur more often in Sumatras. I'm sure
some of these other breeders can tell more about it and how often
they see this in their hens. I wonder if it's something that occurs more
in one family line than another?

I've seen a lot of game hens with them. I had a polish hen that had 2 inch spurs, some of my lakenvelder hens have them as well, and I have sumatra hens with the ridge for multiple spurs.
