Sumatra Thread!

Well, the Sumatra hatch is over. My broody has the one Platinum chick and another that looks like it might be Blue under her. I candled the two remaining eggs this morning, one was an early quitter that I somehow missed at lockdown and the other looked like a fully developed chick that for whatever reason just did not hatch.

All is well though, the two babies she has are precious, I'll also be trying to slip some Sussex chicks under her to keep them company.

Which Bridget did you get your birds from...? im in Turlock/Modesto, CA and i breed and show sumatras. some from Jim Sallee and others from out of state that we have had for maybe 4 years or more. Do you ever show your birds at the poultry shows.

finally some of my Sumatras will look like the germany Sumatra

the standard size is too small for me I like bigger birds .

Yes it still young close to ,4 months, I added some oriental to add strength and size,thst also helps to keep the horizontal tails, behavior still Sumatra .
Is just the size that have improved .

it looks nothing like a Sumatra. I said nothing about German.
