Sumatra Thread!

Congrats on getting the eggs, I hope they all hatch! We moved the first batch of eggs into the hatcher last night, about 3 dozen bantam sumatra and about a dozen LF sumatra eggs, they are due Saturday and I saw one moving tonight. So excited!

I had 5 more chicks hatch today, 1 Black, 1 Dun and 1 chick from the shipped Khaki eggs I received, plus another Platinum and I think another Dun under my broody Ameraucana hen. The second chick was still a bit wet so I'm not too sure of the color yet.

The chick that hatched from the shipped eggs is not what I was expecting. I have never seen a Khaki chick of any breed before but I was expecting something blond colored, yellowish down maybe? This chick is more silvery colored with a buttery yellow belly. I emailed the seller with pictures but I haven't received a response yet.

10 more eggs went into the incubator as well.

Our first chick of the season hatched about an hour ago, a nice dun. Looks like another 5 are pipped. The eggs were put in on a Saturday night, early chicks are always good though.

Well so far 9 out of 12 eggs have hatched! I think that is great from a brand new incubators first hatch with shipped eggs. I am still waiting to see with the last 3 eggs.

I hope so too. 17 Sumatra eggs. 12 chicks presold. The balance are large breed mutts ( bred with Sumatra Cockerals) for my egg laying coops. 34 eggs total. As soon as the hatch is over, the bator gets loaded. Thanks!
