A few pictures of my Dun and Platinum youngsters.

I'm pretty sure this chick is a very dark Dun cockerel, he has very pretty deep brown/black saddle feathers starting to grow in. I REALLY like the darker Dun colored birds.

A question for the genetics experts, does it look like these birds are carrying the pattern gene? The Platinums seem to have faint lacing and I'm wondering if it will become more defined as they mature? I plan on outcrossing this year to a line of BBS that has EXCELLENT lacing. Will I eventually be able to breed a Platinum bird that is laced like a Blue is? What about a Dun, could I get lacing to show up on that color as well?

does anyone have dun or platinum eggs for sale, i prefer bantams but if not will consider lf

Dun and Platinum birds are pretty rare in LF, I honestly don't know if there is anyone with these colors in bantam.

I may have hatching eggs available in the fall, I plan on hatching a lot for myself first but I would be willing to share with those interested in the project. My birds are LF.

I was sorting chicks today and noticed that I have many, many cockerels. It looks like my 2 khaki's are pullets and a couple of the duns are pullets but it looks like I only have 2 black pullets which means that I have about 20 black/dun cockerels. The hens have been horrible this spring as far as laying. One day I'll get 5 eggs from the pen, and for the next week I'll get nothing. This has made it hard to collect eggs to hatch. I am not too happy with how some of them are turning out, color wise. I haven't gotten what I consider the perfect dun yet. But I'll keep them and grow them out for another couple months

You know, since you have 2 Khakis you should just put one in a box with an extra Dun cockerel and ship them to California to me!

I'll even send you the box, LOL.
