Summer Books! Ideas, favorites, and Recommendations?

Wow, thanks for all the suggestions guys!
I really like Terri Blackstock, but some of her books have romance. She is a Christian adult author, and I think her books are pretty safe for people ages 13 and up.
Edit: My sister @horsegirlabi recommends a book called Hope Rising by Kim Meeder.
I'll definitely check out Hope Rising. Anything that's 13 and up is generally good for me. I'm much older than 13, but prefer books that are appropriate for 0-13 year olds. I just like the sweeter, innocent nature. (I also think about the books I read, and want to keep clean, cheerful thoughts in my head as much as possible. Especially since I already have a wealth of mental health issues.)
I'll check out books by Terri Blackstock and see what I think. Thank you!
I’ve got a few different suggestions for ones that you may or may not like.
Classics: (non romance and fairly easy)
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Definitely heard of it, but never read it! *adds to list*
Across Five Aprils by Irene Hunt (classic historical fiction about a boy growing up during the civil war)
Oh! I loved and read that one. Might be worth re-reading since I read it in middle school for a class.
A Wrinkle in Time (There’s hints at romance in this one but it’s far from the main focus)
I *think* at some point I've read those books (I think it was a series... ?) but I should definitely re-read them since I don't really remember.
The Chronicles of Narinia
C.S Lewis is amazing! I've read the Chronicles of Narnia... but I think, like a lot of these books, I should re-read them.
The Time Machine by H.G. Wells
I'll definitely check that one out! Thanks!
YA Fiction:
The Giver Series by Lois Lowry ( It’s one of my favorites you may or may not like it)
Added to my list! I feel like I've heard the name... but I definitely haven't read it.
Wonder by R.J. Palacio
I've watched the movie (it was incredible!!!) but haven't read the book.
I added it to my list!
The Book Thief
I just looked that one up.
I think it'd be a great read for me, but maybe not at this time.
Slight spoiler: I read that it has a suicide, and since I've been struggling with that sort of thing (I'm fine and working on it, don't worry) I just am sometimes triggered by that sort of thing, so I'll probably wait on this one
Johnny Tremain by Esther Forbes
I also read that one (in middle school, again) but I think it'd be good for me to re-read it since I remember liking it a lot!

How about my family and other animals by Gerald Durell his other books are great too.
That one looks interesting, thanks!
The Wingfeather Saga.
That one looks interesting, thank you!
The Redwall series
Already read them (they're AMAZING!) but I might re-read them nonetheless.
guardians of ga'hoole
That one looks interesting, added to my list!

Typically I like YA/dystopian novels like Divergent, Red Queen, etc, but I’m a sucker for animal rescue books 🥰
That's alright! Yeah, those (the Divergent and Red Queen) sound a little violent for my taste, but they do look like good reads!
It sounds like you might enjoy Where the Blind Horse Sings and Animal Camp by Kathy Stevens.
Those look great, thank you!
They author actually runs an animal sanctuary now, and the books follow some of her journey in creating the sanctuary, and the stories of some of the residents.
That's so cool!
Another one of my favorites is Animals Welcome by Peg Kehret, I’ve reread it several times and still enjoy it.
That one also looks very interesting!
Kisses from Katie by Katie Davis is another one of my favorites.
Oh my goodness! That one looks so interesting!!!
My parents actually went on a mission trip to Uganda when I was really little. It was heartbreaking to them to see kids eating rotten, worm-filled fruit and dirty water.

One of the best books I've ever read is To Kill A Mockingbird, by Harper Lee. Very much a classic, and the movie is also excellent. Since it was published in 1960, it does contain the N word. This book is probably in my top 5 favorite of all time. Maybe top 3. Can't think of what the others would be, ATM, so maybe it's my favorite book.

A very good book I read a couple years ago is Ella Minnow Pea, by Mark Dunn. I would describe it as a novel for people who love words.

The Guardians of Gahoole is pretty great. I think I read the first 14 or so books in the series. Fair warning though it can be a bit violent. Not horrifically as it’s still a older kids book and it’s owls. I think it’s supposed to be similar to the Warrior Cats series in regard to violence.
