My husband woke up one morning a few months ago and yelled in pain when he tried to get up. I thought a pulled muscle so we put a heat pack on it. He suffered for a week taking tylenol b4 he finally went to the e.r. E.R. didn't tell much so (with no insurance either!) we went to a chiropractor. Turns out extra vertebrae growth since birth (head had always tilted to one side slightly but we thought nothing of it) finally pushed on a nerve. Chiropractor got onto me cuz the heat made it worse! Electrotherapy a couple times a week and a neck brace at night helped him. Other than that he was told to get used to it until such time as it becomes chronic debilitating pain, then surgery would be necessary. No heat and Aleve was suggested although it doesn't immediately relieve pain.

No heat got it, it wouldn't be so bad if it didn't radiate down my arm right into my finger tips. See I fell out side I went up into the air and landed hard (guess my bottom isn't so cushy after all) missing the four steps and my husband guess I had the whip lash effect, I need it to un whip it I was going to go see about a chiropractor monday.

If you can't get someone for a back rub. Put a tennis ball on the floor and roll your back over it. There are some teas, like Rooibos and Kava maybe, that are natural muscle relaxants. I'm guessing off the top of my head. Check the internet and double check that it doesn't interact with meds or cause possible health problems. Some teas can be hard on the liver. A few essential oils are good for external use. I like diluted oregano oil, lavender, and mint for massage. You can do tea and essential oils in the bath, or apple cider vinegar or epsom salts.

'Listening' to all your talk about injuries makes me thank God for our National Heath Service. Two weeks ago this coming Thursday I made an emergency appointment at the doctors for a friend. I was concerned about her as she was staying with me because she was feeling unwell and had begun to throw up. The Doctor phoned the hospital and arranged an admitance, this was around 5.45 pm. I drove her to the hospital after picking up her mobile phone battery charger and a case of clothes etc. I got her to the ward by 7.10pm but had to leave quickly because I was in emergency parking. At about 9.00pm I received a call from a nurse to say she was going down to surgery . She had a hernia which had caused a blockage in her intestine. She had a few inches of intestine removed. So I guess that it was life-threatening if they operated so quickly. Of course there is no charge here, no insurance unless you choose to go 'private' which really consists of the same doctors, the same equipment but posher rooms. People who go private tend to do so so that they don't have to wait if they need non-emergency procedures. Wonder if Kate Middleton is going NHS or private? Hahaha.

Rockingbearanch thanks for the tips never thought of a tennis ball.

Majack I could guess that out of all of the bankruptcy cases here in the US are due to medical bills, you pay a premium then you have your deductible, and don't forget your co-pay. So each week out of my husbands pay about a $100.00 is taken to pay for the insurance, then yearly you have your deductible our is $500.00 that we must pay the first $500 before insurance starts to pay and then you have your co-pay and ours is $40.00 so every time we need to see our doc we pay the 40 that is not for a specialist. Then you get billed because your insurance generally only covers 80% of the bill, and we have good insurance!!!!! Oh and don't forget the prescriptions that is another whole mess and yes you have your deductible and co-pays there as well and you hope your meds are on the $4.00 list.Lets not even get into if you have to go into the hospital I wish we had a medical system like yours. Sure you have to wait for non emergency surgery, but like for your friend that was life saving emergency surgery, you saved her life.

Hi everyone, sorry I havn't been around.

I'll just say it... my husband has been a bit naughty, and this are a little unsettled in my home just now. I had to bow out for a little while, as quilting just wasn't one of the things I had time to work on just now. Keep posting pics, and I'll try to be back in a month of two if I can.

Big Hugs and much love to you all.
