I have 7 chickens 3 Amber links, 1 white leghorn, 1 olive Egger, 1 buff Brahmah and 1 chocolate cuckoo
The most eggs I've gotten in 1 day is 5 or 6
Idk how many Pounds food I go through

I'm a control freak. I know too much about my chickens. I want to sell quite a few but at the same time I love having more than 20 birds.

Here are the questions I am curious to know the answers to, you may or may not have mentioned it already.


How many chickens do y'all have and what breed are they?

What is the most eggs you've received from your chickens in one day?

How many bags of feed do you go through in a month?


Here are my answers.

I have around 40 chickens total, the majority are the breeds listed below.

10 Black Copper Marans

10 BBS Ameraucanas



The most eggs I have received in a day is approx. 22.



If my birds don't get to free range I will almost go through 50lbs a week.

i have 12 chickens. (i like to keep a small flock.) they are an Australorp, Barred Rock, Buff Orpington, white crested polish,tolbunt/gold laced polish mix, and 2 golden laced polish. (the gold laced 2 of my polish seem to be seeming more and more like brabanters...)a Frizzle, a partridge silkie, a black silkie, and a cream crested legbar.
only one of my chickens started laying recently, but so far, an egg a day. (sometimes she skips days.)
not sure how many bags of feed...i don't keep track.

I have a total of seven chickens
Four are Silkies, all of them are roosters.
I now only have three sexlinks hens, two are black stars and one is a New Hampshire.
I get two eggs at the most. They are getting to be older hens.
And I go through one fifty pound bag in a month or more.

I think I will be reducing my numbers for the winter.

Once spring hits it's like a population explosion, I hatch around 40 chicks within the first few months of the year.

It gets overwhelming, not to mention funds aren't in my favor this year.

I will have to attempt to get a job next summer.
