Hey guys, my rooster didn't make it.
I thought he had some form of infection but I found that he actually had a heart issue. I don't know if the weather change or a combo of weather and illness was too much for him.

I do have 3 cockerels sired by him so I will just have to grow those guys out and try again later this year.

Amidst the bad luck I had a stroke of good luck by hatching those 3 cockerels. I may be crazy but every day I go out there and I think "you guys may be even better than your dad".
Tomorrow the little chicks will be getting a better pen for their coop, my Ameraucanas will be getting a coop for their cage as well. Winter is officially here and it's time to bunker everyone down in preparation of this cold.

I know, hoping that will be enough to revive my breeding plan.

My neighbor was promised a pullet out of my recent hatches. I have 13 chicks total and yet I think I have only found 1 chick that may be a pullet. I might have to strike up a alternative deal with him . He has been immensely kind to me and my family so I fully intend to make good on my promise to give him a pullet.

There is a backup plan that I had in mind just in case this happened. I have a Marans mix that is 9 months old, beautiful, full of personality and has feathered legs (he requested a pullet with feathered legs). She is my backup plan haha.

I also have another person wanting a pullet/hen but he specifically wants a Marans, I will have to figure out what my backup plan on that one is
