Sunday Dinner Is Fresh Fried Chicken

Quote:
Meat birds are usually Cornish Crosses which have a very short life span due
to their breeding. They get big and fat too fast.

Standard breeds, like White Rock, Delawares, Orps, can be used as a meat bird
but grow slower and can live for over 10 years.

Leghorns, like the one in this post, are egg producers but can still be eaten. Ya
gotta do something with all the roosters.

....thanks for the info, Wendy

Well how can you tell White Rocks from meat chichens?
How can you spot the Cornish features as opposed to the White Rock feautres?

At six weeks old a white rock doesn't weigh in at 4 - 6 lbs.

Cormish x Rocks simply grow at unbelievable rates. You can see them grow overnight. They are eating machines. They outgrow other chicks at fantastic rates.

This reminds me of an episode of the Simpsons where Homer was so sad to eat his pet lobster Pinchy for dinner.

Dangerouschicken, will you be doing this on a regular basis?
Which bird is next?
