I love this idea.
It shows that the white gene in the leghorn is dominant (with leakage)
Do you have ANY eggs from the pullets that you could show us?
Also, why would the eggs be white?

This is a first cross. Chicks are growing. The eggs are being laid by White Leghorns so they are white. The blue egg gene is dominate, but that does not mean they will inherit it. BUT the gene is closely related to the pea comb, so we will just have to see. I would not cull the straight comb pullets you might get a surprise.

I had EE with pea comb that laid brown eggs not green BROWN.... so you just never know. Genetics.... but I would bet they will almost all be blue egg layers

I am breeding these for my laying flock. I LOVE the BIG BLUE EGGS idea. They make a pretty egg basket and breakfast. I have more in the bator.... due next week.

The White in Leghorns is dominate so all the chicks will be basically white with some leakage like you said.... Did I answer all your questions.... I don't yet have pullets laying from this cross. The oldest ones are just 2 months old.

I would have thought that the Ameraucana would have provided all offspring with one set of blue egg genes along with and his pea comb which is dominant, (unless that is the Ameraucana only carries a single copy of the peacomb). As the pea comb is very closely associated with blue eggs I could see single combs and white eggs popping up in the F2 generation though, but also super blue eggs as well

That is how I see it probably playing out.... I had not thought about the F2 laying white eggs.... kinda thought I would breed those to another super blue egg laying roo or and Ameraucana. With Olive Eggers if you breed them to each other you get a unique color... might work to breed these to each other to keep the GOOD BLUE BIG EGG laying going....

Have you grown out any of these chicks from this cross and gotten hens that laid green eggs?

Have you 'proven' your roosters by growing out their chicks and seeing the eggs the grown up chicks lay to prove that they don't carry the brown genes that throw a green cast over the blue eggs?

If you haven't proven your roosters, then how can you say nothing about how we might get green eggs even with this cross?

If you HAVE proven your roosters and the offspring lay only white or blue eggs and no green tinting, then this would be a good cross to get a small percentage of blue egg layers.

I like the idea, I just want a proven idea before I bid/buy.

I can't PROVE to you the egg color till they start laying... the ones I have that are 2 months old are from an EE roo from a hatcher so they MAY lay green eggs.... BUT the eggs I am selling are not from an EE they are from 2 Lav Ameraucana Roos (full sister lays a blue egg) (BTW my Lavenders are from Harry Shaffer) and my 1 Black Amerauana roo.... UNLESS the are really EE they will not lay a shade of egg that is outside the relm of Ameraucana and greenish eggs are even possible with Ameraucanas. My Roosters (lavenders) have passed the test for being dominate for the pea comb.

Don't have to prove a thing to me, but I like better knowing where the roo genes are coming from. The lavendars are at least better known breeder lines.

I would feel more assured of this project eggs if you knew the parent stock of the Black Roo or the color egg he came from. Then this would have a better chance of being truly lotsa blue eggers.

Great idea for increasing production of blue eggers. But since you don't know what the Roo's got for egg color genes as he could be carrying brown, sounds like you have a possibility of having super green eggers too.

I'd actually like some high quality white leghorn hens to test my roos out on next year! It's a great idea, just a little early in the project to be claiming super blue eggers??
