I have a 3 month old baby ameracauna who won't eat or drink and lays on the ground with her head on the ground and her eyes closed. She is continually getting worse within 3 hours, because she used to react slowly to her surroundings, but now she doesn't react at all to anything and keeps her eyes closed. I live in Arizona and it's in the high 90s right now, but the rest of the flock seem to be doing fine. Last week I had a chicken with a similar problem that we just figured was dehydration, so I gave her lots of water and took her inside and she ended up being fine. I tried to do the same with this chicken (Phoenix is her name) but she is so exhausted she wont drink. I cant detect any other problem than extreme lethargy and a bit of heavy breathing. I really don't want to lose her please help!!!!

I don't know what to tell you except that I've seen folks suggest tube feeding. If you post this in the emergencies, sickness, etc. section, more of the sort of people who could maybe help will see it.

Vid?
Has she been outside?(in case she swallowed something harmful)
What do her poops look like?
Is she 3 months or 3 weeks?
Keep her warm.

They do live outside but the temp rose very dramatically over a short period of time. I don't think there's anything bad she could have eaten. There's a few weeds growing here and there but all the chickens eat them and she's the only one with a problem. Her poop looks completely normal, a little watery though. She is actually 2 months.

i hope this helps. some signs of heat stress or heat making them tired are panting holding wings out a very pale comb and waddles eyes closed and even laying down. to me it seemes like this is what is happening to your duck. also is you have a pet or children if they have been chasing it around it could get the chicken very hot which causes heat stroke. to prevent this or help it put it in the shade or maybe bring it inside to the air conditioning.

Thank you! Her comb and waddles aren't very developed yet so they're hard to check...but they seem the same as they always do. I did think it could be heat stress, but she's been inside for 4 hours and she seems the same, if not worse.

you might want to try adding electrolites to there water, or keep cold water available and keep it by a fan or install one in the coop and spray it with cold water, and offer it frozen treats like frozen berrries. i hope this helps

Thank you so much for replying again, but we have been doing all of those things, that is why i am so baffled. Literally her only sympyom is extreme lethargy, and the rest of the flock are doing fine. I am just afraid of losing her...I've become quite attached to these little girls.
