As if finding out that my white goose Chiffon from white parents produced saddlebacks when bred to my saddleback gander Chaps wasn't enough...today I got a solid dark gosling out of her too!
I was amazed and needless to say VERY excited!
Interesting is the fact that I had no intentions of breeding Chiffon to my new saddleback gander but he fell in love with her before I separated my geese for the breeding season.
He would pine away for her when they were put up for the night in separate stalls so I finally just gave her to him. He's obsessed with her. He breeds the saddleback goose he came with but basically ignores her and never leaves Chiffons side.
I've never seen anything like it.
Isn't it a wonder how things happen?
I could of missed out on all this had I ignored his cues that this was the goose for him.
Here's Chaps x Chiffons saddleback kids

Here's the Chaps x Chiffon dark gosling that hatched out today.
