We have a variety of breeds and ages in our flock. Laying/breeding buff orpingtons and OEGBs, and chicks of random ages/breeds. We established the buffs last year and have broadened our flock this year. They do not free range. They get layer feed (or medicated chick starter for the babies), scratch grains and/or cracked corn, oyster shell, grit, table scraps, and tap water. Soon we're starting fodder. What else do we need? It seems like a lot of owners vaccinate, add supplements to chick water, worm, etc. So what is necessary, what's optional, what's a waste of time and money??
