Got one lone chick to hatch from some shipped eggs. Supposed to be a Delaware, I've got one from 3 weeks ago and that one doesn't have this barring. Whatcha think? On the bottom is a Salmon Fav

Since I've got the pic loaded any guesses to pullet or cockerel?

That one at the top does look like a Delaware. They evolve in their coloring over time and most start out with that "smut" in the wings and down the back. In about a week, repost the pic and I can guess if the Del is male or female. By four or five weeks, most of the males already have pink combs and they'll have shoulder markings that most females do not have.

So I'm hoping this lone 4 week old delly is a pullet? At this rate it'll take me years to get a flock LOL!

Well, it IS a Delaware, but.... Looks like a boy to me. Thick legs, pink comb, rooish. Looks like he has good leg color and markings look decent, so not bad at all
