Oh that's cool.. a few years ago, this would have gotten a

as it used to be very rare. But now with the introduction of legbars and isbars with mixing already happening on a good scale(there's a thread devoted to legbar hybrids), single comb green/blue layers are going to show up more often.

If you set her blue eggs, at least half of the daughters will lay colored eggs. :)

Will her son pass it on too? Line to breed him to a standard buff hen to get darker larger eggs?

Yes if he inherited the gene. That's the problem with roosters, you can't tell if they have the gene until they are bred with white/brown eggers then wait for the daughters to start laying...

The chances of her son having it is 50% at least.

The colored egg is fully dominant, which makes it impossible to tell if a blue or green laying hen is pure or not. So we don't know if your hen is pure or not, that is why it is at least 50% chance. If she were pure, then it is a 100% guarantee all her sons have it.

Hatch and keep as many daughters as you can, if he has it then only half of his daughters will have it so if you only keep one, you run the chance of her having not inherited it...

I'm not wanting the banty size eggs. Breeding her son to a standard hen would breed up egg size faster.

Yeah don't like small eggs either. My bantams lay eggs about the same size as store eggs. Narrower though. Both parents contribute to egg size, try breeding that blue layer with a roo from big egg line too?
