Hi bethandjoeync

Yes definitely ONLY MIXED CORN while she is sitting. IT is the layers ration that is making her poop smell extra strong & loose, she doesn't need it while she is sitting & afterwards she will eat the chick crumbs that you give to the chicks. You can give her the odd treat like yogurt & hard-boiled egg (all mashed up-- I add a little olive oil in the winter. Put AVC in her water with a little mashed up garlic -- this will also be good for the chicks when they hatch.

Good luck -- I love watching them grow up with Mum training them to cope with the big wide world. I like to leave the mother with them & not separate them when young. She helps them to bond with the rest of the flock.

Good luck! I love brooding hens. Watching that whole life cycle and them growing up learning from mom. I miss that with raising my quail.

we're on day 16!! haven't candled since day 11 but there is no bad smells coming out of the bin (like a rotten egg) so we may have 4 good ones in there!! I am super excited!!!!!!!!!

DAY 18!!!!!!!!!!

OKAY What should and shouldn't I do at this point??

--need to get an area in the coop closed off for just momma and the chickies
