Barred Rock males will have thicker white bars than girls and they are lighter in color. The females will be darker, more black than white. As day olds the white spot on heads will be smaller and less defined on females. Males also tend to mature slower

Another 1 that I thought was light Brahma but isn't, possibly roo. A buff orp roo

Yes,
You ended up with some great birds and lots of variety in your order. Did you say all these came from Cackle hatchery?
A total of 53 chicks. 1 was doa, 1 got stepped on, and another just drowned. All have been SUPER healthy. I felt so bad about the one that got into the goose pen. I'm not sure if he just got stuck or if the geese helped. Poor baby.

With so many chicks, I didn't pay attention to that and figured I'd know by the combs. The ones I posted earlier are really dark like pulleys, but both already have developing combs which means roo, right?

Awww...it happens, but yes it's sad. That's a lot to start with...you go! Only one doa is great outta that many.

Do the little white ones have a single regular comb like the BR. Or are they different?
The ones that I thought wrre light Brahma, or the one that I thought was white polish? The ones I thought Brahma have single combs.
