One of my broody runners has successfully hatched some of her eggs to my surprise.

We have three ducklings.

I have put her and the ducklings into a brooder but I'm not sure whether I should be using a heat lamp. It's unusually hot here in the UK with daytime temps at around 28 degrees and around 17 degrees a night. Any advice would be really appreciated.

Thank you!

Thank you Miss Lydia. Feel like a proud grandmother! Mama and three babies in picture.

If you have a broody hen you do not need the brooder or lamp.

Thanks everyone. The three are doing great - we've had another one hatch from the eggs but another duck is sat on them. Would it be best to move the newly hatched duckling in the brooder with the other mama and three chicks? The other duck is still sat on a further 3 eggs which I'm anticipating will hatch.

Or shall I just leave them all as they are and let nature do what it does best? I'm worried about the male and other girls getting aggressive towards the new chick(s).

So the mom who just hatched is out where the other ducks are? Anyway you can partition off an area just for her and her ducklings. Not always a sure thing a mama duck with ducklings will accept a new one and the new mama would probably sad not to be able to raise her own babies
