Surprise rooster?

We bought all girls (ha ha) and had one obvious rooster. Got rid of him after he attacked and knocked over our 5yo. Now we notice this "girl". I think our black ones are australorps and they're about 4 months old. This looks like a rooster to me but it hasn't crowed at all. What do you think?

Aw bummer! We have had four roosters over the years and each one has ended up being mean. He is pretty though and hopefully he stays nice!

Were the others australorps? I’ve heard that australorps are very friendly, even the roos

If you have had 4, then take a chance. You will know the signs immediately, that sizing you up look. That sneaking around behind you.

Roosters are a crap shoot, but sometimes you get lucky! Good luck.

Maybe your luck has changed! This is a very handsome Australorp Rooster and so far has not been aggressive... Usually, his breed is mild mannered, which is maybe why he has slipped under the radar... Hold onto him for awhile and see... Good roosters can be quite charming!

No, the other roos have not been australorps. We'd love to have a nice rooster but these meanies are ruining our youngest kid on chickens in general. We'll give this one a try but if he tries any funny business....keeping my fingers crossed!
