Glad to hear his is healing well.
You could put some in the waterer for all if you want but if he keeps doing well shouldnt need to supplement for more than a couple days to make sure he is back on top of his game!
I love good outcomes!

I'm so glad he's doing better!

He probably only needs any supplements for the next week, since by then he should have a nice scab and be healing up well.

Ok, thank you. I thought maybe a week would be all that he would need. I love good outcomes too. The last few did not work out, this time we beat nature, so excited.

Thank you. Ok, I will watch his wound once it looks good I will stop giving the supplements. I am spraying it with some wound spray that is helping the skin heal nicely.

Roy is not feeling well again. Tonight he had trouble getting up into the coop to be with his girls.

I examined him, there is no sign of mites, they have been wormed, the wound that the maggots made is healing well.
I just don't get it.

I am putting vitamins in his water, giving him rooster booster B-12 and vit K verity.

I am just lost, he is 5 years old, could it be that he is just getting old.

I do not have a vet near me that will see a chicken, so I am on my own.
He still wants to be with his girls, he just seems to be a bit slower and out of it some.

any thoughts?? I just don't know what to do anymore for him.

It could be this. Average life-span of a chicken is 5-10 years. He may be just tired.

Ok, thanks. I have done everything I can for him. He is not crowing as much and not mounting the hens as often as he used to.
He just seems like he is getting tired. So if he is 5 and that is the beginning of the life span for them, then maybe that is just it.

I checked him this morning. He seemed better than last night. But still no sign of mites, lice, or worms. No sneezing or oozing of any kind.
His wound is scabbed over and healing. No infection, does not smell or anything. I have just exhausted all my knowledge. I just don't get it!!

He was eating and drinking this morning, so that is good. He seems fine just acting like an old tired rooster. Is this normal behavior as they age?

If it is, then I will just let it go at that and just make him as comfortable in his old age as I can.

Thanks again.
