Ella smiled, watching him out of the corner of her eye before tipping a garbage can and fishing about in it for whatever it was that the smell emanated from.

Taz puffed out his chest proudly.

Saffron noticed Cerise's excitement and nodded grimly. "Yes, he's breathing, but he might not be for much longer," she said coldly, without even looking at Cerise. She lifted a few plants from the herbs she'd used to carry them in and began chewing one of them into a poultice to stop the bleeding. It was horsetail. Her gaze wandered to Cerise as she worked the poultice into the wound, smoothened out perfectly. "Any idea how long the other one's been laying there?" she asked as she dragged the bag of herbs over to where Dixie lay, motionless.

Ella giggled at his proud pose, then snatched a half-eaten corndog from the trash can.

Taz grinned, and chewed on his squirrel thoughtfully.

Ella munched her hotdog in silence, finished it, and announced, "Well, I think I'm up for a swim." She waited for Taz's reaction, a sly grin on her maw.

Ella leaped into the water, sending it spraying everywhere. She felt herself begin to sink and wondered if it was a bad idea, but didn't have the time to think as her nose vanished under the roiling water.
