Endigo nodded. "It's a fine life; you're just looking out for number one... Sorta the way I am starting to like it." he said, after a brief pause since his nod. His eyes shifting to glance at Jargo, he added, "Jargo, don't bother attacking me. I'm big and fat from the meals I don't have to share and I can easily beat you now, especially since you're wounded and I am not."

Jargo snarled, but laid his head down and glared at his rival before leaning over by Harli and giving her a gentle nudge. "We'll find a way to get outta here, just you wait," he whispered, nibbling her ear a bit. Endigo's ears swiveled around, but he said nothing at this comment.
Harli whimpered, tensing up at his words. Suddenly, her head shot up, and she let out a cry of horror. "Jargo!!! My pups!!!!" she wailed, scraping the ground with her claws to get up. To no avail. Her sore, injured muscles just wouldn't do it.

Quote: Jargo's brow furrowed in sadness. Those pups were likely long-dead. He wanted to comfort her, but knowing her in this state of being, he decided not to. Instead he sat back and watched her with sorrow in his eyes. Endigo just flopped down in a corner of the den with a deep groan. Finally, Jargo said something. "I... I'm sorry, Harli."

By now, Harli was in tears. "They're gone..... aren't they?" she whimpered, staring Jargo in the face. "My darlings.... my little darlings..." she whimpered without waiting for an answer. She scooted away from Jargo, forcing herself to get into a sitting position. There she sat, eyes glazed over in sorrow, staring at the wall.

Quote: Jargo couldn't reply, his mouth feeling dry. It was what he had wanted, wasn't it? He had wanted those pups dead... But to see her this way was more painful than having to face keeping traitors in his pack... But, then again, the pack wasn't his pack... It was Tarro's pack... So many things were running through his mind... He sat down hard, then slid down into a laying position. He felt like a defeated dog, once more.

Harli shivered repeatedly, but not with cold, but with horrifying thoughts. Her pups, mewling in her nest, calling for their mother and not knowing why she was gone, dying of hunger and cold. Tears rolled down her cheeks, but she remained deathly silent.

Meanwhile....

Colby bounced around Daisy's den, yipping happily. He ran after his sister, Amber, who had the treasured father in her mouth. "Give it back!" he barked. "Never!!" she squealed, dashing away.

Quote: (I don't remember Amber or Colby... XD)

Jargo watched her, his eyes rolled up to look at her as his head lay flat along the ground. What could he do? Nothing. The answer was simple: he could do nothing. The realization stung him, a pain worse than any wound. He could do nothing. For once in his life, he was finally realizing this.

Daisy smiled at her pups, leaping and bouncing wildly in the den. Her face clouded over as she remembered her sister, Snowy's death. The young she-dog had been healed of her wounds by the skill of Willow Pack's medical dog, but then had gotten hit by a car a few days later. It had been a tragic time for the dogs of Willow Pack. But that had been months ago.

(Harli's pups. XD)

Harli blinked, her whole body trembling. No.... no more of that. She pleaded with herself, shoving the horrific thoughts from her mind.

Rinty poked his head in, carrying a rabbit. "Hey beautiful." he greeted her, a deep rumbling sound coming from his chest.

Quote: (Oh, yeah! XD LOL!)

Jargo slowly began to close his eyes, willing himself to die in his sleep. He no longer wanted to live. Not anymore.

Daisy licked his cheek and smiled at him. "Hey, honey," she replied, her brown eyes warm and loving as her tone of voice and state of being. She wagged her tail gently and looked down at her pups.

(Gotta eat dinner; BRB!)

(Haha!)

Harli moaned, then her front paws slid from underneath her. She hit the den floor floor hard, but didn't whimper. Closing her eyes, she fell into a deep, troubled sleep.

"You alright?" he asked, laughing at the pups. Just after he said this, Layla poked her head in the den. Her pitch black coat was now scattered with gray/white hairs, and her muzzle was almost completely white. But, beneath all of the aging, her eyes never grew old. They always twinkled, always sparkled. "Hey kids," she greeted them, her own eyes wandering the the scampering pups. "I'll be gone for awhile. I need to do something. If Melanie or Rex wonders where I am, tell them I'll be back before sundown at the latest."

(K!)
