Quote: Harli growled, refusing to answer him. She headed toward Endigo's den, but had to stop multiple times during her run. She wasn't used to running, but she pressed herself to hurry. Peeking her head in the den, she lowered herself all the way to the ground. "Endigo?" she wheezed, catching her breath.
Endigo was awakened by a she-dog's voice. "Mm-hmm?" he mumbled quietly, clearly tired.
Harli put her muzzle to the ground. "Endigo. I need help." she said, looking at him intently.
"Get it from your mate," Endigo muttered, tucking his head under his paws.
"But that's just it. He won't help me." Harli growled, getting agitated. "Layla's grandson is dying. My mate would rather see him die. Endigo.. please.." she begged, looking hard into his eyes.
Endigo looked at her and said, "I am not a medical dog! Go. HOME!" before settling back into his nest.
"I'm not asking you to treat him!!" Harli shrieked, her lip curling. "I'm asking you to tell the Willowpack alphas!!!!" she snarled, lowering her head and bristling her hackles.
Endigo snorted. "Get out of my den, ya fool! Do I look, old as I am, like I want to go running around in the middle of the night so I can alert some pack Alpha? No thanks!" he snarled.
"You and Jargo are so alike!!!!" Harli howled, trembling with fury. She was trying to change.... trying to live like a loner with no enemies, trying to be a good mother and trying to hospitable to those who needed help, and no one would help her! She glared at Endigo, then turned and stalked out of his den.
Endigo sighed, wincing at her words but refusing to say anything.
Harli trudged away, back to the den. She entered, walking towards her nest, to her pups. Smoke was blinking groggily, but surprisingly, his bleeding had stopped. Harli growled at him, settling into the nest. She curled her whole body around the pups, concealing them from view, and put her head on her paws.
Jargo looked at her with an almost despising gaze about him and refused to speak, instead glowering at his enemy.
I'm doing everything in vain. Harli thought, a veil of sadness suddenly hanging over her. Nothing I do helps anyone. She felt tears brim her eyes, than growled angrily to herself. I cry too much. No wonder why Jargo gets angry at me all the time. She forced her feelings away, lifting her head and staring robotically at the wall.

Harli jumped out of the nest, snatching one of the pups by the scruff. "Come back here." she chuckled, settling down to wash it. "Mama!!" it squeaked, flailing it's tiny paws.

(They're still there. He's washing his pup.)

Harli giggled as her pup growled and clamped her tiny jaw on her mother's paw. She nosed her away, "Alright.. go play." she chuckled, smiling lovingly.
Smoke licked his daughter, who sat up straight with elegance and poise. She had long, silky gray fur, and huge dark blue eyes. Smoke was very proud of her. He licked her cheek, "Go play." he murmured to her, as she scampered off.

Mystery looked at her with wide eyes--he was caught! But he couldn't let Dixie know that he thought Teal was still alive, not yet! He blinked, his eyes returning to a more relaxed state and a sheepish smile crossing his mind. "Yeah, well, kind of," he replied uncertainly. He glanced down at the toy bone Raven had found, which she had apparently forgotten there. "He was good to me when we were young, y'know. I never knew what got into him later on," he said, hoping that would cover his tail.

Dixie nodded and said nothing more. "We thought he was dead when Steel was sent to execute him... Do you think the truck really killed him?" she said softly.

Mystery stifled a gasp, looking to her with concern. It was like she read his mind... Thinking quickly, he decided to tell Dixie what he had told himself when he had the same thought. Hesitantly, he put that thought to words. "Well... Steel was deceptive... I don't think a truck would pretend to kill a dog like he did," he said, though he didn't sound as certain as he hoped he would.

At this point, he was quite uncomfortable with the conversation. What if he let slip what he thought he saw those days ago on that patrol? He couldn't put Dixie and the pups in danger like that. Quickly, he stood, looking to Dixie with a furrowed brow. "Well, I've got to go. ...S-sentry duty," he lied, immediately hating himself for it.

Dixie... Oh, Dixie... He looked into his mate's eyes, his thoughts betrayed by his green gaze. He would take care of this, he silently promised. He would keep his family safe. "See you tonight," he finished, nuzzling her lovingly. And then he turned away from her and headed toward the opening in the junkyard fence.
