Quote: Harli growled, refusing to answer him. She headed toward Endigo's den, but had to stop multiple times during her run. She wasn't used to running, but she pressed herself to hurry. Peeking her head in the den, she lowered herself all the way to the ground. "Endigo?" she wheezed, catching her breath.
Endigo was awakened by a she-dog's voice. "Mm-hmm?" he mumbled quietly, clearly tired.
Harli put her muzzle to the ground. "Endigo. I need help." she said, looking at him intently.
"Get it from your mate," Endigo muttered, tucking his head under his paws.
"But that's just it. He won't help me." Harli growled, getting agitated. "Layla's grandson is dying. My mate would rather see him die. Endigo.. please.." she begged, looking hard into his eyes.
Endigo looked at her and said, "I am not a medical dog! Go. HOME!" before settling back into his nest.
"I'm not asking you to treat him!!" Harli shrieked, her lip curling. "I'm asking you to tell the Willowpack alphas!!!!" she snarled, lowering her head and bristling her hackles.
Endigo snorted. "Get out of my den, ya fool! Do I look, old as I am, like I want to go running around in the middle of the night so I can alert some pack Alpha? No thanks!" he snarled.
"You and Jargo are so alike!!!!" Harli howled, trembling with fury. She was trying to change.... trying to live like a loner with no enemies, trying to be a good mother and trying to hospitable to those who needed help, and no one would help her! She glared at Endigo, then turned and stalked out of his den.
Endigo sighed, wincing at her words but refusing to say anything.
Harli trudged away, back to the den. She entered, walking towards her nest, to her pups. Smoke was blinking groggily, but surprisingly, his bleeding had stopped. Harli growled at him, settling into the nest. She curled her whole body around the pups, concealing them from view, and put her head on her paws.
Jargo looked at her with an almost despising gaze about him and refused to speak, instead glowering at his enemy.
I'm doing everything in vain. Harli thought, a veil of sadness suddenly hanging over her. Nothing I do helps anyone. She felt tears brim her eyes, than growled angrily to herself. I cry too much. No wonder why Jargo gets angry at me all the time. She forced her feelings away, lifting her head and staring robotically at the wall.
