I want to start my plans for Minty right before your plot, if it's the plot I think it is, so I'll get that going on our next time skip with the pups.

Mystery, who was already on edge, jumped visibly when he heard Celeste's voice, though he relaxed when he saw who it was. "Oh, not much. Heading out for..." He hesitated. He wasn't sure he wanted anyone to know what he was really doing (well, except Jiyaken). "...sentry duty," he finished quickly. Smiling to his friend, he paused there, trying to seem normal. "So I'd better get going, huh? Sentry duty's a lonely job." He hoped that Celeste would take the hint, but not be offended. He really needed to do this alone...

((Please have Celeste move on--I have a post with Mystery trying to find Teal alone, and it may or may not have some surprising twists...

(Oh boy, there will be much to look forward to, indeed!)

Celeste looked at him and considered asking him if he was alright when he heard the dog tell him that he was on sentry duty. "No, no, by all means, don't let me get in the way!" he joked, backing off. "Yeah, I just thought I'd say hi," he added before turning to leave. "See you around, bro," he concluded, and with that, he vanished, loping out of the alley and disappearing around a building's corner.

(Naw, I was just throwing that in there. LOL!

Jargo growled a bit at Smoke as he walked by, but said nothing more as he picked up another pup, a girl. "Daddy, I don' wanna bath! I don' wanna bath!" she protested, to no avail. Jargo chuckled a happy, rumbling chuckle like a big cat's pur and plopped the pup down in his lap before bathing her. She was pure white with patches of red, her mother's exect shade. Her eyes were silvery-grey and she was built much like Jargo.

(She's accepted! :) )

(Okay, good! Thanks! :D  And, yeah, I reread Mystery's form. I still really love him. Did you notice that even without killing Dixie, Teal is nearly destroying Mystery's life?)

Saffron stood and watched in surprise as the she-dog, Wren, tore off, bolting from the den. "Hey, come back here, now!" she exclaimed loudly, starting a walk after her patient. Realizing that Wren was not, by any means, going to listen to her, she quickened her pace and tried to catch up with the dog, though Wren was far ahead by now.

Stopping at the base of the junkpile, she looked up. "Oh no," she murmured, starting up the pile after the she-dog. "Wren, please wait!" she yelped, her voice soft and soothing. "It's okay! No one's gonna hurt you!"

(I know! Man this looks bad for her! :p )

((Yes I did. Fun, isn't it? ))

Wren at last went back to all fours on the top of the junk pile, tilting her head down at Saffron. She raised a brow. How strange these dogs were. "I must call my friend!" she barked back as if it was the simplest thing. She took a deep breath and bellowed out another harsh squawk, though that time it had taken its toll. She felt woozy, and her head spun, most likely from hyperventilating while making that bizarre call. Stumbling a bit, her eyes rolled back and she blacked out, beginning to tumble down the junk pile.

Cerise saw this and gasped--she wasn't sure what was happening, but she knew a fall from this high up could be devastating. She leapt out, her jaws just catching Wren's scruff, and with a great deal of effort, she managed to skid to a halt not far below her own den. She sighed with relief, though before long she realized two of her paws were hurting pretty badly. She must have nicked them on something in the junk pile when she was sliding to a stop.

Limping her way down to Saffron, Wren in tow, she placed the strange she-dog on the ground and looked quizzically toward the medical dog. "What in the world is happening here?" the Alpha asked. Now that she was on flat ground, she saw that one of her paws' pad was bleeding, and another had broken a few claws too short. Nothing Saffron couldn't handle, she supposed, though she wondered if Saffron maybe had her paws too full with this stranger.

((Ooookay, Mystery post is coming right up! :D ))

<------------ I dunno why I'm laughing!)

Saffron felt stretched. The she-dog had never in her life encountered so strange a dog as Wren. And what friends was she calling? Feeling a bit dazed by all that was happening, she said, "I am sorry, Alpha Cerise, I haven't the slightest idea, yet! She says her name is Wren; that's all I know, aside from the fact that she appears to have been raised around birds."

Looking down at Cerise's injured paws, she added, "I can help you with those cuts."

(I am making their forms soon, but here's the first post!)

The crippled young she-dog's eyes slowly opened. They blinked once, twice, three times. Where was she? A dreadful, roaring sound eminated from her left side. It was a highway, but the she-dog didn't know that. She shakily rose to her feet, then fell and went tumbling down a slope, into a puddle of water from a recent rain. Shivering, the she-dog rose again and stumbled a few paces forwards, then sat down. The icy wind from the unexpected cold spell bit through her fur and she could feel its icy fangs sinking into her flesh.

She began to sob. She was lost! She didn't know where she was, let alone how she would find a safe path out of wherever it was she was in! Finally, she sat down and began to howl a lonesome howl.

Moments after her howl, she stopped and listened. The sound of... Laughter. Then it stopped. Not long after the laughter stopped, she heard footsteps approaching rapidly, coming from a large dog, judging by the strong vibrations in the ground as the dog approached. Then silence. Suddenly, whispers and hissing voices could be heard, right from in front of her.

"Who is she?" one asked.

"I dunno, but look at the gash on her leg..." another replied.

"Look at her eyes, so strange..."

"Guys, go get Saffron!" a more serious-sounding dog barked urgently. It was a girl, judging by the voice.

Saffron... Who was Saffron? The she-dog felt her legs buckle and she could hear the others scramble out of her way as she fell. Her chin hit the grassy ground with a dulled thud and her eyes closed again as she slipped into the depths of unconsciousness.

(Sorry to make her first appearance so much like Mystery's!

I just now realized the similarity! Her story will be different, though. I hope you don't mind...)
The white she-dog awoke once more. This time she could hear the wind howling around her, but could not feel it. I must be in a cave of some sort, she thought. A sudden noise shocked her and she jumped, squirming to the farthest wall, her paws scrabbling as she did. A voice spoke.

"Hey, it's okay; I'm not going to hurt you," it said. She realized that it was the dog that has said her eyes were strange. Not that she cared what the others thought of her.

"Um... Where am I?" she asked in reply to his remark.

"You're in my den in the city, in a pack called Chroma Pack. You're lucky we found you, me and the other guys. You might've died..."

The dog whom was speaking to the white she-dog was a dark, dark grey--but not black!--young male, handsome, built like a husky but smaller with his white-tipped tail carried high over his back. His eyes were a deep, warm saddle brown color and they glowed with compassion and kindness. "My name's Coal; I'm a Karelian Bear dog, and a Patrol guy for the Chroma Pack guys." he introduced himself, wagging his tail.

His brow furrowed as he watched the she-dog grope around, placing each paw out as far as she could reach and groping it around every which way before taking a cautious step forward and repeating the process. She wobbled up to the wall and her reddish brown nose bumped into it. She yelped. Suddenly he realized that she looked very much like a young pup that didn't have its eyes open yet, the way she moved. But she was clearly an adult... Coal was confused.

Suddenly, he understood. Or so he thought he did. As he watched her slow procession around the small den, he realized something and the realization shocked him. "Oh my... You're... Blind..." he said, slowly.

He watched the she-dog's head turn his way, and she said, "Yes, I am," before sitting down. "My name is Flora. I am just a plain ol' white husky..." she concluded, staring straight ahead with her big, blue eyes.

(Geez, it took SO LONG to find the right name for her. Finding the name Flora was perfect because I needed something for her that was dignifying yet beautiful, as a name. Snowy just wasn't gonna cut it! XD)

(Don't worry! I do it all the time! XD)

Harli smiled happily, watching as Daphne leaped at Smoke's pup. His pup squealed, growling and puffing up her silky gray fur. Daphne snarled, tackling her to the ground.

(Thank ya!)

Harli sighed. "I think they could go outside now... what do you think?" she asked Jargo, ignoring Smoke.

((Okie dokie! :D ))

Mystery nodded and watched Celeste leave, a sad feeling setting into him. He was letting this whole thing draw him away from his family and friends... He would put a stop to this. With a look of renewed determination, he headed on toward the northern part of the territory, dodging cars and humans along the way.

He soon came to the grassy area with the houses. 'Peaceful Gardens', as the sign said. Mystery wrinkled his nose a bit as he looked around, padding silently down the sidewalk. There was the unnatural pond, and it looked like some humans were over there, probably trying to fish out their portable stairs. Oops? Mystery shrugged, moving on.

Which house had he seen Teal at? Was it the red one made of brick, or perhaps the white one with the flowers out front? No, Mystery thought with a sigh. The place was so confusing, the way the streets curved and the many houses looked so similar. But at long last, his eyes fell upon the building that he knew for certain was the right one. It was blue, a nice white border surrounding its windows, and the front door was a pale, sky blue with a flap in the front. A doggie door.

Mystery approached silently, sniffing around. There was dog scent, and it sure was familiar. It was Teal, Mystery now knew for sure. But what was he doing so close to humans? Mystery rounded the house, continuing his investigation. There was a tall fence, a solid one made of slats of wood in a pattern of white and sky blue. The gate was shut, but Mystery could see the latch. Now if only he could reach it...

Suddenly, the gate flew open. Just in time, Mystery scrambled into a decorative bush, watching as a human walked out, leaving the gate to fall shut behind it. Mystery waited for the human to vanish around the corner before leaping out, catching the gate with his nose just before it shut and latched itself again. He sighed with relief, though he felt anxious as he pushed the gate open a little further. What would he find beyond this fence? Was Teal waiting? Would he attack?

The yard was empty, though, filled with bright green grass and shaded by just one tree growing at its center. Along the fence, all the way around, there were bushes and flower beds, all flowering in blue. Clearly, someone here liked the color... Mystery looked around, padding further into the yard. No signs of life at all out here... He had come all this way for nothing?

But then he heard a familiar bark. There was a sliding glass door on the back side of the house, and just beyond it, Mystery noted with a start, was a familiar face with the most piercing blue eyes.

Teal.

Mystery shuddered, taking a step back as Teal continued to bark. There were footsteps coming from deep within the house. A human was coming! Why was Teal just standing there barking? Mystery didn't wait to find out. He took a nose dive into a nearby bush, huddling there and hoping not to be seen.

There was a distinct sound of a sliding door opening. Mystery winced. He wasn't sure how Teal had gotten in that house, but he was sure the blue-eyed dog would soon be kicked out! But to Mystery's surprise, a soothing voice speaking human language sounded as the door opened.

"You want out, Blue? Go ahead, buddy."

It sent chills up Mystery's spine to hear that. Teal was... a house dog? Mystery waited for the sound of the door closing again before he dared move, at that point wriggling his way through the bush just to peer out into the yard. There he stood, Mystery saw. There was Teal, the dog that had caused him so much trouble, the dog that had tried so many times to ruin Mystery's life. Teal was waiting there expectantly, half hidden by chairs and a table as he stood on a cement patio outside that blue house. "Hello, Mystery," he said in a fairly neutral tone. Still, the sound of his voice caused Mystery's fur to stand chillingly on the back of his neck.

Mystery dragged himself the rest of the way out of the bush, shaking off a bit before taking up a defensive stance. "Teal," he replied curtly. The last time they had seen one another, Mystery had tried to be generous and ended up with a near-crippling bite wound to the back of his neck. He would not be so naive this time.

"It has been so long," Teal continued casually, as if he hadn't noticed how defensive Mystery was being. "How has everything been for you, dear brother?"

Mystery was thrown by this. How... strange. It was like Teal was a completely different dog. "...Fine," he replied, though his expression made it clear he was confused. He kept a sharp eye on Teal, expecting that any moment he would be attacked.

"I understand," Teal sighed, taking note of his skepticism at last. "You have no reason to trust me now. But do try to remember the last thing you told me, all those moons ago."

Mystery thought back, his eyes never leaving his brother's. Those words he had said, looking down at Teal's defeated form. 'I believe in you.' That was what he had said. But then Teal attacked him from behind, and that was the end of that. Mystery frowned. "I used to believe in you, Teal. I'm not sure what to expect anymore," he said honestly.

"You don't know what I've been through," retorted Teal. At last, he stepped forward, and Mystery's jaw dropped as he caught sight of what remained of his brother. His hind legs were strapped into some sort of wheeled contraption, and they hung there uselessly as the wheels kept Teal standing upright in their stead. "I have been shown mercy, the likes of which I had only seen from one other before. It was you, Mystery," Teal continued, in spite of the fact that Mystery couldn't take his eyes off the wheeled contraption that the blue-eyed dog was strapped in. "I always hoped we would meet again, dear brother, so that I could tell you two things."

Mystery at last looked to Teal's eyes again. He was so sincere... What had he been through since they last met? And frozen in a somewhat mystified state, he listened closely as Teal at last said what he had been wanting to say.

"I am so sorry, Mystery... And thank you so much."

((Sorry that took so long! Phew!))
