Ella cracked a small smile and snuggled up by Sylver. "Are you my new mommy?" she whispered, her voice cracking a bit.
Ella began to cry, and shake all over again. "Mom---Mommy!" she cried.Faith watched quietly, feeling a little ashamed of her earlier overreaction when the pup first entered the den. She wondered how Sylver would respond to the pup's question--it was a big responsibility to take on the care of a pup--but before she heard Sylver's response, water began to pour into the den they were in. Faith was on her feet immediately, momentarily illuminated by a fierce flash of lightning. "Get Ella! We're going to have to find a different shelter!" she yelled, as the wind had begun to drown out her voice even within the den.
Taj stood, looking pretty intense, and then looked to Sylver. "I'll get the fish!" he barked.
"Forget the fish!" howled Faith, and she began carefully climbing up out of the den. The ground there had been soft before, and now it was saturated with water. It was muddy and slick--Faith couldn't climb out! "W-we're trapped," she said in horror, looking back toward Taj and Sylver.
((There you go, some drama.))![]()
Sylver's eyes grew larger than before. She snatched up Ella's scruff, and looked wildly around. "Faith!! Dug gouges in the mud! Place your paws there!" She howled, and tore into the slick mud, flinging it. Her paws created a small hollow, and she then repeated her actions higher on the slimy mud.Faith watched quietly, feeling a little ashamed of her earlier overreaction when the pup first entered the den. Ella howled as she watched the water gush in, and she felt it touch her paws. "AAAHH!" she squealed, flailing about.Sylver's eyes grew larger than before. She snatched up Ella's scruff, and looked wildly around. "Faith!! Dug gouges in the mud! Place your paws there!" She howled, and tore into the slick mud, flinging it. (DX!! What's going to happen?!!!)Faith's eyes were wide in fear and she began to dig, but it seemed like with every pawful she moved, another was washed back into its place. It was exhausting work! Finally, after a grueling effort, she managed to produce one gouge, where she stepped with her hind paws to work on the next.
Taj hung back and watched as Faith and Sylver worked on digging makeshift steps out of the den. Unsure of how to help, he was bouncing back and forth on his paws, looking around. Then, he looked down, something occurring to him. The water level wasn't rising... So that must have meant... Taj turned and followed the flow of the water to the back of the den, where it was so dark that Taj could only see where he was going when lightning flashed outside and reflected into the den.
"Uh, girls..?" he said, realizing that there was a tunnel dug at the back of the den. It was going deeper underground, but it was possible that they could find a way out, Taj supposed. He continued to walk, mostly feeling his way as he went. "I think there's a--" His words were cut short as the soft ground crumbled beneath his paws, and he slid away down the tunnel and into darkness, the echo of his yell of surprise left in his wake.
