Rex came to the entrance of the small cavern, his coat drenched in water, and his paws and lower legs plastered with mud. He raised a brow and looked at her with a concerned expression; "What's the matter Faith?" he said. Glancing past her, he peered into the Willow Pack territory. "Where's Taj?" again, he asked. He knew that where Faith was, Taj wasn't far fro her.
 
Faith opened her mouth to reply, but fell quiet as Rex mentioned Taj. Clearing her throat, she managed to speak. "Just wanted to report that Sylver and I made it through the storm safely. We found a pup who's been orphaned. Sylver is taking care of her now." She paused and swallowed hard, her ears drooping just a little as she did. "Taj is... We lost Taj in the storm. I wanted to ask permission to take a search party out to find him," she said, a serious, if not slightly sad look on her face.

Rex's face broke into a smile, but quickly fell as he heard the news of Taj. "Yes; take a search party and go look for him. We will not desert him in this time of need..." his voice trailed off, and his eyes held a troubled look. "In fact, I'll come along. I won't be able to wait around the den while you search. He brushed past Faith, exiting the den. Looking up at the now mostly calm sky, he spoke in an urgent voice, turning his gaze to Faith; "It's almost nightime. We'd better move fast!"

"Yes, sir," Faith replied, bowing gratefully. She turned to look around the dens for packmates that might be willing to join the search. She knew Sylver would want to be part of the party. Who else could she ask? She hadn't spoken to many of her packmates yet...

Trotting to what she felt was the center of the dens, she let out a beckoning howl, contained in it the message that she was gathering a search party.
 
((Time to check in on Taj... ;) ))

Taj was sliding, falling through darkness, the occasional rock in his path causing him to tumble. He must have been thoroughly coated in mud, and the sinking feeling in his stomach just kept getting deeper and deeper. He hit water, totally unprepared for it, and was unable to take a breath before being drawn under.

The current dragged him along for a short while, his legs flailing desperately the whole way. He calmed, though, when he saw light in the distance, a small feeling of hope rising in him. He didn't know where he was, but he could see again, and if he could see, he could swim.

He didn't have much air left, so he swam furiously, not wasting time. Darkness was starting to pick at the edges of his vision, but he could tell he was nearing the end of the tunnel he was in. The current pushed him right along, out into open water, where he spun uncontrollably for a few minutes.

Taj looked up toward the light. The surface! Air! He paddled desperately upward, but the darkness was closing in on his vision, and he soon ran out of energy. Slowly closing his eyes, he let out what was left of his breath in a small burst of bubbles, and faded into unconsciousness...
