Celeste kept his hard, grim expression but had to fight to keep from chuckling at the way she said that she had green eyes. "No, no, no, it's okay, it only comes after you when you're deep, deep in the mines," he said. He picked her up, hearing Mystery's voice, and began carrying her to him. "Yo, Mystery, Minty just popped in for an early visit. She's fine," he said.
Still crying quite loudly as she was carried, Mint saw her father and began to struggle in Celeste's grip, her paws flailing toward her father.
Mystery heard Celeste with some relief, and spotting the two, he trotted over, at which point Mint broke free at last and ran over to bury her face in his leg. Blinking down at her, he placed a gentle paw on her back, looking to Celeste quizzically. He trusted Celeste fully with the pups, so this sort of reaction was concerning to him. "What in the world happened?" he asked.
