Nellie yipped excitedly. "Mommy, Mommy, Mommy! Look, the sunrise! It's here!

Dylan popped up from his sleep. "Sunrise?" he asked sleepily, blinking his eyes a few times.
"Yes, come look!" Nellie squealed, nipping Taz's ear and trying to wake him too.

Dylan looked more energetic and wide awake. He followed his sister.

Taz grunted, and turned over, his eyes still closed. He continued to sleep.
Ella sat up a bit and yawned. "Wakey, wakey, sleepyhead..." she crooned softly.
Taz's eyes slowly opened. He sat up, and yawned. "Morning..." he muttered sleepily, and pressed his muzzle to her cheek.
Ella smiled at him. "Morning," she greeted happily, standing up and yawning. "Kids, what do you want for breakfast?" she added. (They're weaned.

Saffron nodded and watched Cerise disappear from sight in tow behind Celeste before turning to Wren. Offering a smile to the she-dog, she watched as Wren acted as though she might speak, but never did. Finally, Saffron cleared her throat. "It's okay; I won't bite," she said kindly.

Meanwhile, Coal was waiting with Flora at the base of the junkpile. When he saw Celeste approach, he got to his feet and wagged his tail in greeting. Flora stared straight ahead and said nothing.

A little surprised, Wren looked more directly at Saffron, an almost mystified look on her face. "I, uh... Hungry," she admitted at last, tensing her muscles a bit as if expecting to need to flee. She glanced toward the opening of the den. With the other dogs gone, Wren was confident she could dart past Saffron if she needed. Her gaze quickly returned to the medical dog, wide with the expectation of a response--whether it be a violent one or not.

Cerise followed Celeste, pausing as Coal and an unfamiliar she-dog came into view. Her paws were sore, but she still walked with as dignified of a pose as she could, occasionally limping on one foot or another. She reached the others, regarding Coal with a nod and then looking to the stranger. There was nothing threatening about this she-dog. Relaxing and offering a welcoming smile, she spoke. "I am Cerise, Alpha of Chroma pack. What is your business with my pack?" she asked, though her tone was perfectly friendly and warm.

Coal nodded a casual yet respectful hello to Cerise and looked at his submissive she-dog companion. Flora's head hung low and her blue eyes never blinked as she stared straight ahead. It was clear that she was thinking. Finally, she said, "I don't know..."
