Saffron nodded. "I see," she said quietly, her voice hinted with sympathy. "ANd, your friend, is he a dog?" she added questioningly, as she was beginning to get the feeling that it wasn't, as Wren was suggesting by her squawking.

Sienna had, by now, returned to the heart of Chroma Pack territory and had left the patrol to other assigned duties. Now she knew this was the moment to ask her Alpha about something important. She walked towards the Alpha Den, climbing up it, silent and steady. Finally, she reached the top of the den. Her paws swishing lightly against each other, she entered it. The den was dark, lit only by the fading sun that shone through the entrance. Her paw accidentally knocked a glass bottle over, causing a momentary period of clatter as it rolled down an inclement and bowled into a pile of cans.

Wincing at the sound, Sienna stood somewhat embarrassed at the front of the den, facing Cerise. Dipping her head in a small bow, she looked at her paws and waited for the Alpha to speak.

Wren blinked at her as if she didn't understand the question, tilting her head at Saffron. A dog? Yes, Wren recalled what that was. Saffron was one. Wren, though... She didn't identify herself as one. She was like her friend, which meant he was like her. Settling on that as a response, she shrugged. "He is like me," she said at last.

Cerise had whirled around in surprise at the clatter, looking to Sienna with a mix of questioning and relief. She raised a brow. "Yes, Sienna?" she asked calmly, taking a seat on the slightly high spot at the middle of her den. She motioned for Sienna to make herself at home as well, smiling patiently as she awaited what business Sienna had to share.

Meanwhile, after such a long time out, Mystery had at last returned to the junkyard, his mind at ease. He had had a long talk with Teal, catching up and learning Teal's unfortunate tale. Could he trust his brother? ...Maybe. Not quite yet, but he would get there, he was sure.

As he walked, he thought about what Teal had told him. After being hit by the truck, Teal had been sure he was going to die. He awoke in the care of the humans, in such agony that he could not properly describe. He heard them speak, and knew what they were discussing. Was Teal worth trying to save? At that point, Teal didn't think so. But there was one human that did, a human he had never even seen before in this great big city. That human, though she didn't know his deeds, thought Teal's life was worth fighting for. And that was when Teal changed the most, or so he said. That was the very same human that Mystery had seen let Teal out the door of the human den. The human had not yet given up on Teal, in spite of it all. It gave Mystery hope to hear that some humans truly did care.

His heart warmed, he entered his family's den, his eyes falling on Dixie as he did. She was curled up in their nest. Was she awake? Mystery really couldn't tell. His smile growing, he approached, nudging her shoulder gently. "Hello, beautiful," he greeted her as he had so many times before. She would probably be mad--she didn't seem very happy when he had left to find Teal. Now that he thought about it, what was he going to tell her? He shook that thought to the back of his mind, keeping an adoring gaze on his mate.

(( *Performs CPR on thread* ))

Taz stood up, and stretched. He shook his dark coat. (Can I make another dog? o.o )

Quote: Saffron looked even more suspicious at the she-dog's secretive answer, but kept herself from jumping to conclusions and nodded in response. She had to keep Wren focused on her, not on trying to escape. Saffron changed the subject. "So, what do you like to eat.. ?" she said, clearly starting to stall.

Sienna looked at her paws again and sat down somewhat stiffly on the ground. "Alpha Cerise," she began, her gaze briefly meeting her Alpha's before it bounced back to the ground. (Oh GEEZ, I didn't write down what I was going to have Sienna say and now I have completely forgotten!!! D:)

Dixie leaped to her feet and looked at her mate with eyes that gleamed with joy. "Mystery!" she exclaimed happily, leaping to her feet and nuzzling him. Jade and Raven stirred from their light slumber as they felt the disappearance of their mother's presence. Sitting upright, Raven exclaimed, "Hey, it's Daddy!"

(Lol!)

Wren looked at Saffron with an equally suspicious gaze, but shrugged it off, finally sitting again with a sigh. She contemplated the question, her golden eyes moving to the wall briefly as she did. "Squirrel," she decided aloud. Looking back to Saffron she nodded to emphasize this decision. "Hard to catch, but worth it." She looked like she may have had more to say, but something distracted her. There was someone watching them from the opening of the den, she realized with a start, springing to her feet. Her fur bristling, she looked toward the small figure, though whoever it was was back-lit by the sun outside the den and Wren couldn't identify how friendly or hostile the dog was.

((Uh-oh! D: Was it something to do with the patrol she just led?))

Mystery chuckled at Dixie's reaction, nuzzling her back before smiling at his daughters. "Hey, Rave," he replied, his gaze moving from her to Jade, and then... the empty spot that Minty should have been occupying. Mystery sighed. Some things never changed. He looked to Dixie with a good-natured smile. "Where is Minty off to?" he asked, though he was relatively sure Dixie wouldn't know the answer.

Quote: Saffron looked past Wren but was unable to see who it was the strange she-dog was barking at. But rather than joining in the chorus, she walked to the entrance of the den and offered a smile. "Hello?" she asked, cool and calm, though not certain of her decision to greet the stranger--whoever he or she was!

(I remember now! :D)

Dixie looked at him and her brow furrowed in confusion. "Where have you been and is that.. ?!" she stopped short in her sentence as she took another whiff of the odor Mystery carried with him. "He can't be alive..." she mumbled softly, before gazing up at Mystery. "... T-teal.. ?" she added quietly. "You've been with Teal?!" she finally concluded, looking at him in shock. Then she quickly followed Mystery's gaze to the pups' nest. "Where'd she go?!" she shrieked loudly, looking around in horror.

A small pair of green eyes blinked innocently up at Saffron. "...Hi," Minty said somewhat shyly, glancing from the medical dog to the stranger, Wren. She had come to see what Saffron's duties were like, but her interest had moved to the she-dog who talked strangely and behaved so differently. How curious, this stranger was... "May I come in?" the pup asked politely, grinning innocently up at Saffron.

Wren stared at the pup briefly, then looked to Saffron as if speechless. It was but a fledgeling... Wren had let her unfamiliar surroundings make her far too jumpy. Her golden gaze on Saffron, she waited for the medical dog to reply to the young she-dog.

Mystery stared at Dixie for an instant. He had been careful to take a swim through a pond on his way home, though apparently that hadn't worked to remove his brother's scent from his fur. Dixie looked so disgusted--she hated Teal, after all! Mystery couldn't have her mad at him. "What do you mean? Teal is--not around anymore!" he said quickly, glancing at Raven and Jade as he censored the end of his statement. His tone and body language disguised his lie easily. Perhaps he had spent too much time with Teal... He still had his suspicions about the blue-eyed dog and hated that this was causing him to be so deceptive with his mate, but... The timing wasn't right here.

Glancing around the den quickly, Mystery sighed. "She's probably out bothering someone again," he replied, hoping to change the subject. "I'll go find her," he offered, seeing his chance to leave before Dixie pressed any further about Teal.
