A small pair of green eyes blinked innocently up at Saffron. "...Hi," Minty said somewhat shyly, glancing from the medical dog to the stranger, Wren. She had come to see what Saffron's duties were like, but her interest had moved to the she-dog who talked strangely and behaved so differently. How curious, this stranger was... "May I come in?" the pup asked politely, grinning innocently up at Saffron.

Wren stared at the pup briefly, then looked to Saffron as if speechless. It was but a fledgeling... Wren had let her unfamiliar surroundings make her far too jumpy. Her golden gaze on Saffron, she waited for the medical dog to reply to the young she-dog.

Mystery stared at Dixie for an instant. He had been careful to take a swim through a pond on his way home, though apparently that hadn't worked to remove his brother's scent from his fur. Dixie looked so disgusted--she hated Teal, after all! Mystery couldn't have her mad at him. "What do you mean? Teal is--not around anymore!" he said quickly, glancing at Raven and Jade as he censored the end of his statement. His tone and body language disguised his lie easily. Perhaps he had spent too much time with Teal... He still had his suspicions about the blue-eyed dog and hated that this was causing him to be so deceptive with his mate, but... The timing wasn't right here.

Glancing around the den quickly, Mystery sighed. "She's probably out bothering someone again," he replied, hoping to change the subject. "I'll go find her," he offered, seeing his chance to leave before Dixie pressed any further about Teal.
Saffron looked at the pup in surprise for a moment before saying, "Oh, Minty, hello there." in a somewhat flustered voice. Her eyes briefly darted outside the den, then back to Minty. For a moment, she had thought the shadowy dog she'd seen following her was the one whom had been standing there. (Are the pups, like, teenagers, yet? Hopefully so...)

Dixie looked at him. "But... This scent?" she said, confused. She looked up at him. "Then... Who's scent is this?" she asked, her eyes filled with question. Surely he couldn't be visiting another pack... No one in Chroma Pack had this scent... And it smelled so much like Teal...

Dixie's ears drooped as she gave up trying to figure out what was going on. Her head swirling with sad and worried thoughts, she nodded to Mystery and plodded back into her nest, curling up and looking at him as he left. She looked down at her other two pups lovingly, her confusion slowly leaving. Then she noticed that Jade was awake and blinking up at her. The little pup's eyes made Dixie think of Mystery. She began to feel sad and questioning all over again. What was going on? Why was he holding back? Why was he so secretive all of a sudden?

Then a new thought made her jump: could he possibly be seeing another she-dog? Of course he wouldn't... right? Her imagination running away with her, Dixie began to picture Mystery slinking off to visit another she-dog. Why? Perhaps this female was prettier... Perhaps more loyal? Of course! Mystery didn't trust Dixie because of what she'd done! That had to be it! Dixie thought about it some more, and slowly remembered her mate's loving gaze as he had awoken her. Slowly, her worry that he was in love with someone else began to chip away. He couldn't possibly love someone else; that loving gaze said so!

(Hope that wasn't too controlling on Mystery...)

His head drooped so low it nearly dragged the ground; his golden eyes were barely slivers, never blinking; his entire body was criss-crossed with bleeding gashes. Rowan had returned from his duel with Tarro. The one-on-one fight had been tiring, and the Jargoan Alpha was much stronger than Rowan had thought. But Rowan had won!

Yes, he had won, even though he didn't look it, with his head, not carried high as an Alpha's, but drooping low. He finally staggered into the den where Swampson was and collapsed. Blood dripped off his tongue and the hair on his muzzle, forming a small puddle down beneath his paws.

Then he let out a low howl, announcing his presence and dominion to the others... Summoning them. Letting them know that he was rightfully their Alpha!

((Sure! :D I've got plans for Minty on our next time skip, then!! One question, though, do you want Raven and Jade involved as well? ;) ))

Mint looked at Saffron with a raised brow, unsure why she spoke in such a tone and looked around so suspiciously. "What's wrong?" she asked, looking concerned. Shrugging it off, she glanced curiously to Wren, then looked back to Saffron. "May I come in?" she asked hopefully.

Mystery looked at Dixie uncertainly, then left, sniffing around. Minty had been everywhere in the pack, tried every duty--except one. Rolling his eyes knowingly, he headed out toward the medical dog's den.

((Oh, goodness, so short! D: ))

Swampson had been dozing lazily in a fairly secluded den, having taken refuge there during the Jargoan takeover of his pack. He was jolted awake by a howl coming from very close by, though, and scrambled up to look at the battered and beaten dog before him. It was Rowan, the new Alpha of his pack. He had apparently won the fight against the Jargoans and brought safety back to their home.

Swampson dragged himself to his paws, looking over the Alpha with concern. Sonya was out, and she was his medicine gatherer... Hopefully someone would see her on their way to the Alpha. "Hang on, lad," he said, trying to make his gruff voice seem somewhat comforting.

((Gosh, I thought I had more Golden pack characters... :th ))

(Raven will probably be busy with the plot she's involved in, but I think Jade could join in yours.

Saffron, not hearing Minty's first question, nodded. "Yes, do come in," she said. Then she realized the pup had asked her a question before the one she'd answered. What was it? She remembered. "Oh, um, nothing's wrong, dear," she replied calmly. But that was not true at all.

Dixie slowly began to drift off into a fitful sleep, which was instantly filled with frightening dreams. She tossed and turned, the horrifying dreams persisting. (Believe me, that's fine. LOL! I like your long posts (like some of the ones with Teal and Mystery!) but this is fine.

Rowan panted with exhaustion as he saw Swampson, soon after hearing the dog's voice. "... Yeah... Sure," Rowan said, though he sounded quite uncertain. His burnished red coat shone in the pale light of the setting sun and he knew that things weren't good as his eyes rested on a gash that sat near his upper chest.

(Um, whatever became of those stand-in charries? The boxer and the others? (I don't remember their names...) )

((Okay, found them. They're on page 421! ))

One by one, the Golden pack dogs began to show up. First came Karissa, who had brought Sonya along with her. Before Dana and Briar could show up, Swampson had sent Sonya off for a few things to help with Rowan's wounds. Finally, Maxine and Mort, the two that had been most critical of Rowan, showed up. They appeared sympathetic, but didn't say anything as they gathered with the others before their wounded Alpha.

"Yes, Rowan?" asked Karissa expectantly. As they waited for his response, Sonya showed up, and she and Swampson set to work on Rowan's wounds.
