Sonya, of course, didn't hear the man and went barreling into him, though upon catching the scent of food, she backed up with surprise. Still feeling quite defensive, she maintained a threatening stance at a few paces away, though her eyes were on the piece of chicken and her nose was twitching as she sniffed curiously. She took a timid step backwards, her eyes moving to the dogcatcher. He certainly seemed different than the other human, but could she trust him?
The man immediately realized she was deaf, and tried to act as calm as possible.

Sonya eyed him cautiously. She had not had a good past with humans, but they had never really hurt her. Perhaps this one really was trustworthy. And, well, Sonya was awfully hungry... She took one slow, shaky step forward, then paused to see how the human reacted.

Scout jumped in front of Layla and kept growling
Rex sighed. "Bud, I know you aren't that tough! Stop pretending, it's just going to cost you."

The man knew Sonya was a smart dog, seeing how she watched him. He stayed still, certain that if he moved, she would leave. Another dogcatcher ran by, suited up and ready to tackle the task of Sedna. "If all else fails..." he said to the meaner dogcatcher, "I have a tranquilizer gun. That'll do it for sure."

Scout kept growling and ignored what he said,
"Let us leave and we shall leave you!"

Sonya took another step closer, and then another. Her hackles had lowered, and instead she perked her ears forward with interest. She tilted her head, then took one last step forward and reached out with her mouth to take the piece of chicken.

((One more post and I'm 'Overrun with Chickens'! :D ))

The man smiled. Hoping she wouldn't mind, he reached out in an attempt to pet her.

(Congrats on 'Overrun with Chickens!)
