Surviving Another Depression.......What Would We Need?

My son bought a beautiful old treadle sewing machine in its beautiful cabinet last year for me, I searched and found a reprinted manual for it, and accessories (boat-shuttle type bobbins, new belt-- He also bought my spinning wheel for me last year-- what a good boy!
Now to make a simple frame loom if I don't find a rigid heddle loom (the money tree has dried up!)-- we have 2 Icelandic sheep and about a hundred chickens, 2 ducks (found out they are male and female, yay!), 4 turkeys, 1 peacock, 2 Icelandic sheepdogs (they are not a big dog, I would love to adopt a great pyrenees or LGD mix of some kind-- we have a well and also a shallow well with a hand pump, and a pond--
the events of the last few days are giving me a rotten headache worrying, I know we are not ready yet.

Someone back there said they didn't know what to make of my post.... I have nearly everything I need, but I do need more batteries. The shotgun will round out what I have now and stop big game in it's tracks, lol.

The first thing in my post though, was to be debt free, then the shotgun, then the batteries!!

I'm pretty sure I need to add canning lids since they are next to impossible to find here, probably because canning season is at an end.

Hmmm, what would I need if we had a depression? I'm going to stock up on:

Zoloft
Mascara, lipstick, and foundation
New shoes

Okay! I'm ready!

what about solar panels? Though about putting electrical fence around my place to keep people out and maybe to keep a freezer running. I think owning meat or dairy goats or mini cows would be a good idea you could hid a small animal better then a big animal. And any pantry food that has long shelf life. We should learn basic medical training encase someone gets hurt like a broken leg or shot/ I really hate to think about this stuff though.

Awesome! My husband forwarded the msnbc news article about the Cuban mini-cow, but I have not heard of any here in the US yet (although I have not searched well either). I think that would be a great idea.

When I have to patrol my livestock with a shotgun so starving people don't steal it, I am pretty sure it would be time to leave (hmm, the town or the planet, I am not sure).

i've been reading this thread a bit... it says survive a depression, not armegeddon!

i'm pretty sure we'll have electricity and water in a depression... won't we?
