If that was Wisconsin,,,,,, only beer?

Get out of bed Minnesotans!

It is time to rise and shine.

I had 40 chicks hatch this last batch, I think these are the best looking hatch of the year.. I sold 9 so I have 31 for myself, unless someone wants some. I wanted some EE replacements I have some beautiful colors on some, light yellow/white with spots and calico colors. I am so hoping against all reason these will be hens. They are so colorful they will have to be roosters, I am afraid.

I moved them outside yesterday, Judy vetoed that plan for 2 of them and brought them back in. She said they were too small. I have to wonder just who is the boss here at the hatchery? I am sure it is me, she seems to disagree.

It looks like another day of rain. It seems to never stop this time of year, in 6 weeks we will be begging for rain.

I have the guineas running around the yard, I am so glad they are free, I enjoy watching them hunt bugs and ticks.

Now post, rainy days mean I have to have something to read.

Good morning all. Another wet soggy one here.....I guess it's better than the alternative, or we could be the rest of the world (not). I think it's time to start dosing myself with Vitamin D3 again...is the sun ever coming back?

I keep my extra feed and scratch in a watering tank to keep mice and chipmunk damage to a minimum. I was so happy to see Andy was protecting the open scratch bags from these pests. He was keeping an eye out for anything that would endanger the feed supply!

Grats Andy!

Ralphie, I really appreciated the Merle tune. I don't think that I had heard that one previously. The Highlander video was good too but a little too dark for me in my old age. It brings up bad memories.

Merle is one of my favorite artists, although in my youth I considered Country Music to be not worth listening to. It is quite remarkable how interests and thinking changes as you get nearer to 100.
AMEN!

Good morning! (It still is although it seems as if it should be after noon as I HAVE GOTTEN TONS DONE-Yea)

while I was letting out the flocks - both are now corralled but locked up at night - I heard this weak half crow. Not from Tom of course (who started precisely at 4:30 a.m) I walked over to the other run and watched Reggie. It was so fun! He tries to crow and it is only half a crow and then he cocks his head trying to solve the issue of where that just came from and then tries it again. Reggie does his boy teen crow and Tom is over in his run saying Huh? and cocking his head. Pulled a laugh out of me and I am still smiling. What a way to begin the day.

The corralling of Tom has worked out wonderful. Everything is easy now. The husband does not 'sneak' out to his shop. I can tell when the DH is out though because Tom lets me know. LOL.

Yesterday I had not seen our black lab for a couple of hours and she never wanders off. DH was going outside and I asked him to call her - she is usually down in the woods. DH came back for me to show me where Abbey was. Somehow, someway she had gotten into the new coop/run, probably chasing a chippy, and was laying in the coop. She had to jump over a barrier to get inside the coop because the entrance is built high. Too funny. She looked like she was saying 'finally! someone missed me.'

Some more quilting today. Love the rain!

It is raining here again. We got 8 tenths of an inch yesterday in my rain gauge. The forecast is prediction of rain most of the day.
With reservations I have moved some of my flocks and integrated a rooster with the free range flock. this means that I have a Buff Chantecler and Partridge Chantecler rooster in the same flock of hens. I was concerned that there would be excessive fighting, but the transition has gone quite smoothly. Both of these roosters are very docile.

I have much nursery work to do, but I am not enthused to go out in the rain to do it. My wife brought home about 40 clumps of Stella D Oro hemerocallis which should be divided and potted. Probably enough material for 120 pots. There are also a half dozen Blueberry plants and a couple Wiegela plants to be potted up. These all came from a landscape redesign project. This is the type of thing I am forced to contend with in the summer. I am thankful that she hauled as many of the hemerocallis clumps to another nursery that she does business with, or my workload would be that much greater. All of this nursery work reduces my fun time.

I am lots older than BC and remember 55 mph! I remember the days country cops would help push a car load of buzzed teenagers out of the ditch and say you kids be careful now !! (beer cans rolling around the floor of the back seat)
I remember 55mph as a little kid. When I started driving myself though...65 mph was in place when in the metro. But only there. WAY TOO FAST for a country bumpkin~! LOL

P. S. Minnesotans drive insanely fast. Was told that by a New Yorker.

I understand. I have moved towards country music about 40 years ago. I think it is the fault of the Eagles.
.
I had a Cassette tape of the Eagles that I ran in my car in college. Round and Round and Round. Best Band ever! RIP Glen Frye.

He is a stunner. Hello Andy. And what a sweet baby boy roo.

We got a big dumping of water last night. I have a mini flood around my coop. I have the run burmed up and the coop on blocks...so no worries. But It does make access warrant waterproof boots.

I am busy as of late with lots of "real job" work and not the kind of work I really enjoy which would be at home doing chicken projects. My kids are running hard this week with trap shoot events and BB practice for a Pacesetters tournament in Collegeville. And my Car's AC compressor just got replaced...so being without a car for day and 1/2 is crimping my style. And the cost of replacement. $$$$$ Nutso. I-Owe, I-Owe it's off to work I go.

I may get a chance at Roger's son who was first egg to hatch in the classroom project. He was all roo only days old. while the others ate he stood alert. I think he's a natural like his Papa. We'll see how 'Loretta' turns out I guess.
