Surviving Minnesota!

Ivie, is Tom Hanks still among the walking and breathing after "the incident"?

Hi Ralpie! Yes, Tom Hanks is still around - back into his recently leveled run. And the DH is managing a smile - not a LOL yet - just a smile when I recite the trials of this episode of Tom and the DH. I cannot tell the story without laughing through it. Those that hear it are probably laughing because I am laughing so hard.

Thanks for sharing the walk through the poultry show I Love Layers. It is nice to read through.

Congrats Ralphie on the white sports. Thats pretty cool. If and when you have the time, could you reiterate the history of these little girls/guys. I remember it was a big deal when they first hatched but do not recall the details. Are they only yours or do others hatch them too?

No prize Minnesota Nice, for being first. It was just a game between Ralphie and Myself at first because . . . . . I think Ralphie always posted first and was waiting for others to hop on. One morning I got online before he posted so I gave him a hard time. Is that what happened Ralphie? So now we made it into a game. Early bird gets the worm kind of stuff. Now he gives plenty of chances for someone to post first - Ralphie - Why do you do that? There were mornings, sometimes I still do, hop out of bed and run to the computer to get on-line to beat him to the post. They were more frequent and that diligence has dwindled somewhat but its still fun. Everyone is welcomed to the challenge of being the early riser.

Have a loverly day Chickeners.

Happy Day fellow Chickeners!

We successfully split our flock. Father-in-Law received a variety of chickens including the BA. We are left with 28 hens and 7 roosters. What a relief.....but we still need to have a freezer camp day as we have 7 roosters and 2 mean hens that I don't like. "If Mama don't like you, you don't have a prayer."

My wonderful husband wired our coop lights to a timer. So at 10:10pm I went to ensure the timer worked and everyone was roosting peacefully, a mere 10 minutes after lights out.

The last 4 mornings at precisely 7:35am AJ (My son's barred rock cockerel) has been crowing exactly 8 times. Of course this upsets the 9 year old son because "it is summer, I am sleeping in." AJ will be around for a loooooooong time son! This is revenge for all the school mornings!
