Wow - the diligence and precision to help a chick hatch. Bonus HEN.My 5th white sport from this hatch is out of the shell, BUT I had to help her. She was sitting in the egg with the back 1/2 of the back 1/2 the shell on the right side. like an oyster on the half shell. I am guessing she broke free then stopped to sleep like they do while still in the shell and the shell dried to her.
I soaked paper towels in warm water (108 degrees) I have an on demand water heater so I can set the temp to whatever I want from the sink. I soaked her and broke off the shell and she seems fine.
I put her back in the incubator to stay warm and dry out. The problem is my auto-watering system. The hole at the float has plugged. I will have to descale it and go to using distilled water in it from now on.
