Surviving Minnesota!

Good morning folks. Erlibird wins the morning prize. My body aches from too much physical labor. Ha.
3 miles away my friend has two timber wolves in her driveway right now. Yeack! She had just got back in from the coop.

Any chance they have become good timber wolves yet?

Morning . Really busy week . No I did not eat any poison mushrooms ! Lots of chainsaw work . Hard to keep up with a young man . He even had me fishing for real bullheads . Have not done that in awhile . Usually too tired by dark . I do not have time to catch up on all the posts .

OMG!! Anyone want some of my broodies!!!!!
So I had this sick barred rock 2 weeks ago. I thought she went off and died. Just in case though I looked everywhere. Went through every single pile of wood, underneath every building, underneath anything overturned, even in the camper!!
Well today as I was walking to the barn I noticed the barred rock. All puffed up and broody. So I sat and waited, so I could follow her to her nest. After waiting 30 minutes for her to go there, she finally started heading towards the far barn. I followed her from a distance. I followed her to the barn were she is sitting on 18 eggs underneath a tree

ILoveLayers I would just let her be and hatch those babies

Everything here seems to be going down hill here rn... About 2 weeks ago we had to put a reallybold cow down due to really bad leg issues(she couldnt walk anymore). And now we have a cow with lump jaw! And of course she is the craziest cow here that we cant catch. So we gotta get all the cows into the corral and get them seperated so we can keep her in!

If I had found her in the first 5 days I would've taken the eggs away! But I found them today and they are about 2 weeks old!

I hate lump jaw!! We were at someone's branding and one of their cows had lump jaw so we had to treat it, then we had meatballs for lunch...

Good morning. Simply gorgeous outside (which you already know) so I have been working outside. BT - what a nice weekend to be camping! P e r f e c t.

I am glad I do not have cows. Chickens are enough for me. Ralphie, I want to come to your October party so keep me posted. I want to learn how to do the deed. Maybe I will open myself up to roosters and freezer camp once I have experienced it. BIG talk - no walk but we will see. Things could change.

2:00 today to meet with the trainer for our black lab. Fingers crossed.

How is Grandpa doing I Love Layers?

And how was that Benton Fair?

Jerry, I am glad you passed on the toadstools..

I bet your grandson will be a hero back home with a mess of bullheads to share..........

I have a question I cannot get an answer to on the EE thread. There are a bunch of people making sex linked EE. I asked why and never got a decent answer. It is not hard to do, so it is not a challenge. If you know the sex at hatching do they cull the boys the day they hatch?

One person told me they keep the girls and sell the boys at auction. The only way I see that working is with ignorant people that do not know they are sex linked. Who would buy a box of boys?

I have a run loaded with boys, lots and lots of boys from the CLB's. They are headed to the Freezer Camp Day extravaganza. No one wants CLB boys, why would they want EE boys???

I am going to avoid hatching chicks in the future that can be sexed at hatch. I am not sure I will even hatch many CLB's next year if I can get enough Sports.

However, I am going to be selling sexed eggs, I have a string and needle to hang over the eggs before I hatch them to tell if they are boys or not. I will make omelets with the boys eggs.

Ivie the fair was good but the chicken barn was lacking. MNchick's daughters SS looked great. There were a few exceptional birds but not that many. They did not have a lot open division entries. Next year I am going to load them up.

BTW we saw some jerk steal and egg out of the cage of one of the birds. He slipped it into his pants pocket. I tried to get close enough to "accidental" bump that pocket but I could not get it to work.
