Surviving Minnesota!

Well I dried my cucumber seeds outside yesterday . Got them indoors before the chipmunks found them . I will let then finish drying indoors . Trying to make a tomato cross to improve my pink cherry . Need tougher skins as they crack easily . I need to try to cross my Niwot fall bearing black raspberry to my Autumn Britten . Niwot needs better flavor IMO . Wet weather has made it difficult . Prepping flowers the night before and then pollinating a day later but then it rains .

Ralphie you need to try the old wooden snap type rat traps on those chipmunks . My Grandson's mower was a easy fix . Water droplets in the carb bowl .

BC I found a big patch of ghost flowers at the lake . I took a pic but it is still on my dumb phone .

I bought three of the old snap rat traps the other day..proving again ..great minds think alike!!!

Do I go beaver hunting, or sleep in an extra 1/2 hour to save up energy for volleyball?
There's no better satisfaction then shooting a beaver in the creek and taking it out though..

I clipped Gilda's wings last night. I do not see her do it but she must be flying out of the big coop. She insists her nesting box is in the small coop and has to get there, somehow, to lay. Poor girl. She is taking this change - Tom gone and change of coops - pretty hard.

My birds have been locked up for 36 hours now....

They seem to think it has been years.

I am planning on starving the predators to death.

One thing I learned yesterday is the sex of my guineas I have left. They are all hens. I am guessing the Men Guineas decided to become radical terroristic suicide bomber guineas. (I am not afraid to call them what they are).

They have been bombing the traffic on the county road, teaching the motorist Guineas have rights too. Unfortunately most the drivers simply do not believe Guinea lives matter. I also think there is an ulterior motive for the Guinea suicide squads. They simply cannot handle the "requests" from their women any longer and decided to take the easy way out....

Oh the reason I think they are all hens is the number of eggs I found on the floor of the run. I have 4 guineas left in the layer coop and got 4 eggs. Which means all girls, I think, and there could be hidden nest somewhere. the last boy has been gone about a week so the eggs could still be good. But I gave them to my Mom for eating. I would have kept them but did not want to accidentally give them to someone buying eggs...

I started doing heavy clearing of the underbrush to the east of the coop. I hope to get it all out in next couple months. I want to make a ground predator have to expose themselves to my flying pieces of lead if they try coming into the yard.

Good Morning! Thank you for joining me this morning. LOL. Clearing all that brush sounds like a plan and alot of work. Once done are you going to add that area to the weekly mowing plan? Stay cool Ralphie.
