Surviving Minnesota!

I havnt made my salsa or sauce yet but I went to a friends and helped her chop today and also helped get her sauce going. Her nephew was also there and brought his immersion blender, WOW it's like a cement mixer!
I took pictures I'll see if I can get them here. Everything went in the pot for the sauce: tomatoes- seeds, peels and all, peppers, garlic, fresh herbs, onions etc. and coarse chopped. After cooking it down awhile he took the immersion blender and went at it, amazing!

This is the only pic I could find on the stupid phone but it's a large pot and the blender was so cool, I have a stick blender and never knew
there was a huge one like this. We had a good time, lots of fun.

Ralphie, sorry Judy is sick. I don't know much about C. Diff but it sucks from what I've heard. Hope she gets well soon.

I'm thinking Sometimes is the operative word here.

You know when wild birds really need feed is early spring/summer. When all the seed heads have been picked through and the new seeds aren't ready yet. I think you and DH need to have a discussion. LOL. That poor bear with the limp. I bet he/she is ornery as heck too, with the sore appendage. Have you reported it at all? If it's lame...they may do something there with it.

I will say though that the growing season may...may be just a tidge short for those volunteers to get fully vine ripened tomatoes. Cherries maybe okay...but big beefeaters and such ...you need to count on a mild September, IMHO. Which I guess we've been getting the last few years.... From starting seed indoors...I estimated for a timely harvest...that I needed to start seeds in February. That's at least 2 months of frost still in the ground up here. I've had some weird years here just last year or the year before where the tomatoes weren't ripening and just staying green. There was some temperature issues...maybe?
Yep LOL

If I'd have seen it better and knew if it was the injured/lame bear I'd have reported it. I don't want an aggressive bear hanging around, well any bear but an injured one especially.

DH is pig headed....

Wow, so much of this screams for my help!!

1. This line should read," If the bears go into my garden or destroy my apple tree they will be really dead."

2. This line should read, " We didn't get a good shot at it."

3. This line should read, " I know my Husband is the rule maker and it is my job to follow the rules to the T, I know he only does what is best for me. My job is to honor, obey and worship him."

There you go Erli, I helped you! You can thank me later....

Did the vet take a look at it? I'd wonder if it was broke?

No we haven't taken her in. We don't think it broken. We might call tomorrow or this evening and see what our relative thinks. We'll wait til my mom gets home this evening to look at her before doing that though. The worst part is that she looks down at the yard where all the animals are and just whines cause she wants to go down there an check on them...

Way to go Minnie. I anticipated that you would do well. Did you learn anything regarding the Urch's mot being there? My recollection is that in years past they brought about half the birds which were exhibited there.

Duane has had some health problems this year, and I know Phyllis had been in the hospital last fall. I saw them there and talked with them and they plan to be back next year. I will be going over to see what he has in the way of Buckeye males he wants to part with in a week or two. They are both getting around okay, but they aren't spring chickens any more. The show was much smaller without them.

Well when I went and did chores today I noticed I was dtill missing a Buckeye pullet... GUESS WHERE I FOUND HER?? She is broody as heck on a nest of eggs! Its to late for babies!! But she has been gone for alnost two weeks so shes gonna get her way I guess. Darn chickens... I thought she just gave me the slip when I was looking around for her but I guess not.

So my Buckeyes who hasnt hardly layed a dozen eggs is broody

Same though!! I found the same barred rock that was broody and I gave the eggs to a different hen sitting on eggs. Thinking back to it I haven't seen her for a 2 weeks either! So I guess more chicks

Also a Guinea update...

These birds are stinkin crazy!! They climb and fly on everything! BUT while saying this I must say they are quickly becoming my favorite non-chicken birds!! They are comical little birds! Today they all flew up into a tree and harassed a guy who was seedung in our Alfalfa lol
