Surviving Minnesota!

I have come to notice there is quite a few mink around here... Have seen a lot of them dead on the road lately. My grandpa and his friend even got pictures of an albino mink in the hay field the other day. That thing was dumb... It was eating a mouse about 4 feet away from them lol.

Morning peeps. Got to run to No Hope to my daughters apartment to feed her cats. She is camping in the bounded waters. She knows mothing about camping in the boundery waters... So I sit here worrying. I hope her boyfriend knows something about it :/ I told her my concerns, she said stop freaking out. Cripes. Kids.

I would be more worried about camping with the Boyfriend than the boundary waters... Of course I though every Boyfriend my daughter brought home was a psychopath with a low IQ, no ambition and not fit for my daughter.....Including her Husband who I have grown to like and enjoy..... BUT he was not good enough for her until I trained him...

A gun and badge managed to keep most of the real bad ones away.....

Hahaha ralphie! Well she went into town and texted me. They found the perfect campsite, where their car is not too far away to store their food in. so I am good. :)

So I blended and froze tomatoes for future processing . Just short of a gallon . Went to the sale barn and got a bargain . A Sportsman incubator for $35 . No trays but I have one that needs a new turner motor . So if this one works ok I will have trays for it . I did not tell Janet I bought another incubator .

I am unsupervised today . The possibilities are endless . I am being domestic for now . Tomatoes are done as is my laundry . Pumpkin bread is next . Last package of frozen pumpkin to use before the new crop is used . We do not use a lot of pumpkin but the chickens love the extras .

I am jealous of your purchase..

I need a sportsman case without a turner....... Or I am going to have to make one for a hatcher.

Congrats on the good deal.

I saw a nice white tail buck last night. Looked like a 4x4 I'll have to scouting sometime this weekend and see what I can find of Mule bucks up by Linster

Ralphie I have a fufu chicken idea for you . I thought I sent a PM but IDK it went and disappeared . Anyway look up those British Araucana we could make some easy enough . I find none in the US .

I saw that, it is an interesting idea. I do not have any Araucana though. I do have the partridge EE though, one with great muffs and tufts. Of course, I named her Muffin....

Well they are basically a crested Ameraucana or EE . So we both have crested Legbar . They have a crele variety in the standard as well as black red (partridge ) . I already have some crested bearded in the auto sexing pen . To get slate or green legs bred to EE or Ameraucana would give the best shot at blue eggs on both sides . They seem to accept both leg colors plus spotted legs with barring . So no major hurdles . I no longer have silver Ameraucana but have a kind of silver EE cock . I also have a wheaten cock . Hmm fall or winter chicks . New craze maybe .

This is a pic from last year . That pullet has a very small crest . So put slate legs on here and improve crest . Poof British Araucana . Crele variety .

Maybe, I have a wheaten/partridge/penciled cockerel coming up. He is still in baby clothes so it is hard to see for sure. I have some EE with the Blue pretty well cemented into them thanks to EJB's Ole and the Creamettes. I will have to keep them in mind when I cull in a week or so.

Just means I need to build another breeding pen or two.

Look what I am having for supper tonight! This will be my entrée and I am making beef veggie soup as Judy is home. She needs mild stuff, and will not get any of this:

I have not picked this yet, I can see it from the window here.

I did pick 2 fist size puffballs and a golf ball size one this morning, I took the small one to a friend I want to get involved in mushrooming and the larger two to my cousin.

Poof my first British Araucana pullet is near point of lay . Non standard red color . Green legs acceptable . She has 2 imported British bloodlines . Legbar , Rhodebar plus American EE . Easiest project ever .
