To be fair, you won't catch me writing a letter to carhartt over men's color selection. Duck brown or black is fine for me

Well, , If it is a little tight I would get the same color (I hope that is possible in a men's size. OR Maybe you think it will be warm enough without any added thickness under it. Who wants to be tight in the chicken coop when reaching for something?

Was at fleet farm for dog food and supplies and swung past the carhartt section. They apparently come in 2 shades of purple, a reddish color, teal, dark grey, dark brown, olive drab and black now too.

Carhartts should be duck brown and that is it!  You're ruining a great thing here with these colors.

Ralphie I prefer my Carhartts dark brown lol. That's the only color I wear when it comes to Carhartt lol
