Surviving Minnesota!

Home with a sick little boy today. Eli's fever came back last night 102.5. So he is spending the day at home. We are writing letters to friends that moved away. Good practice for a 1st grader. Too bad his mom is a teacher. Even sick days are for learning, poor kid!

Morning all. Grey clouds are supposed to be leaving today but we may be blown away with them! My word it's windy.

If the weather settles down I will be with Jerry on the roof putting up steel on my old garage. I'm planning on going right over the shingles with a layer of rigid foam betweenso no tear off for me

Does anybody use a solar powered coop light? I'm going to try and supplement lighting in the coop for a few extra months and am on the search for an easy method. Otherwise I thought about hanging up a small strand of x-mas lights. And it's best to add light in the morning, correct?

........these are the things I think about when baby doesn't want to sleep :th ..........

We are going to try solar power this year. DH bought two RV camper lights and small solar panels which haven't showed up yet. So i can't tell you how it will work but we don't have power in the coop either and didn't want to run an extension cord even though it is a short distance. It is his department as he went to school to be an electrician, finished but, then came home after a year and took over the construction company with his brother.

I've considered trying something like this from harbor freight for supplemental light. Should be plenty bright for it. Just haven't pulled the trigger as I have power in my coop. Xmas lights my not be bright enough to make a difference

I ran across this in my search. Not a bad price, either. Walmart actually has a few, too. I have yet to hit up Amazon.

I was wondering that about x-mas lights, but people always talk about using them. I'm also not sure how much light is actually needed. My coop is 10x12.

I hope your little guy feels better. There are so many bugs going around right now. It's been traveling in my house like a circus.

We run extension cords (almost 200ft worth) back to our Coops, but use them for heating water in the winter. I don't want to overload the circuit and add lights as well.

If you catch a sale plus have a 20% coupon for harbor freight they can be had cheaply.

I haven't bought yet because I have been weighing the cost of the lights vs the cost of the electricity I use and haven't been sold on it yet

It doesn't make you look young but it makes you feel younger, oils your joints!

This is very reassuring to me. I know most of you can not relate to this, but being as old as I am and having to show my ID to the 25 year old clerks at the adult beverage store gets old. I like it when Judy is with because she looks her age and never gets carded...(PLEASE do not tell her this, she is touchy about this and her touchiness could cause me pain)....

I almost made grilled cheese last night and thought about using CO. So I did get close to using it. BTW I never made the grilled cheese. I just opened some of the good stuff I got at Menards instead.

Mo3 sorry to here the little guy is sick.

My little guy is having surgery today so I have to drive him back and forth from the clinic. He is having Laze-x? Guess I spelled that wrong. He surgery is the same time as my Granddaughters bus gets home from school. So I have to take him to surgery and back while his wife watches kids.

I have been weighing solar lights also. My problem is finding a solar light with a timer on it. The other concern I have is the strength of the battery and battery life in the banana belt. Sometimes it gets chilly here and I wonder if the batteries would have any life left in them in the AM when I need the light.

We have solar lights along our walkway, and they do not stay on all that long the batteries seem dead in hours.

My younger sister asked me of she could have some feathers from my chickens for a art project. I told her yes, but they don't drop feathers on command

I HATE Menards.

I just got off the phone with them to order a Ceiling Grid System for my little bathroom project. I have one of my rebate cards waiting to reduce the cost of it all. I want everything to be bundled up and ready for me to pick up tomorrow. I want to save time and have them pick it and put it together. I pick it up and then pay for it. After calling back because I was accidently hung up on, and then waiting and listening in the background while somebody else got sub par service. I finally got the person back on the phone who then took my order. They then tell me I would need to pay in full now before they would get it ready for me. I told them I'd like to pay tomorrow with cash and use my rebate card.

No Go.
I said Thanks sarcastically and hung up. What has happened to good service at this s-show of a business? And they've got you by the cajones because they ARE cheaper than other places. You get what you pay for folks.
