Well I looked at the super moon . I did not see what the fuss was about . It was bright . I started arranging the firewood pile yesterday . Stacking . I need to split some . Just a big pile dumped with the loader . My turn to cook last night . I outdid myself . Duck breasts cut into smaller chunks , onion , a pint of hen of the woods canned mushrooms and some Diakon radish . Seasoned it with Famous Dave's steak and burger . Then decided gravy would be nice . So added flour to it . We were out of milk so I used a can of evaporated milk Oh wow it was sooo good .

I agree with Jerry, the "super Moon" was not worth the fuss. I guess is you missed it you can catch it next time.

Glad your dinner turned out Jerry. I cooked here last night. My pressure cooked steaks were a flop. They were tenderized Round Steak.

BC I think Minnie has the right solution for you. I have one of those systems. They are easier to use than the remote type. You do not need to make the system permanent. You can just lay the wire on top of ground or string it through the trees and bushes. or use temporary fence posts to hold it up. I used mine to get my bird dogs use to chickens and keep the chickens safe.

I rolled up the wire years ago and have not had to lay it out again. They learn fast. When we go to the mail box they still stop at the point in the drive where we had the wire. They do not even follow us down there, I am so happy with what it did.

Of course, you would expect an Master Professional Chicken Wrangler like myself to be able to train a dog.




I have a CLB pullet that pecks my hand when I open the cage and reach in. She does not peck it in a "mean" manner. She runs to the cage door when I approach it. The pecks are gentle, sort of, not like a rooster or hen sitting on eggs. As soon as I pick her up she stops pecking. I think she is just impatient to ne held, kind of like a kid that bites for attention. If I am wrong you will hear about how she put a hole in my hand and I gave her and 2 roosters to MnChickMom's husband.....

Does anyone know anything about "Rite Farm Incubator pro-528" It does 500-600 eggs at a time. I see one on craigs list. I am thinking about buying it. Do not mention that to Judy, I might have to use the "Oh, that, I have had it for a while" thing on it. I wonder if I could sell 300 chicks a week..........Hmmm



If anyone wants pullets I have my BA. that are either laying or at POL. I want 10 bucks apiece which is the same the Nice Asian Lady will pay for them. They are not show quality, some have my Black EE crossed into them when I attempted to get the pea comb on a BA. Some of them have red bleed through on them. They are friendly and good layers. It is just not a strain I want anymore. Also roosters from them could have sprigs. Enough so that I will not try to make a good bird from them.

I think I have 15-20 of these.

I am ready for Christmas. I am doing the lazy person way of decorating the house. We bought one of those "laser" light things. I will just point it at the house and I am done. So much easier than hanging lights.

I'm worried and thinking that Sadie Mae is Border-Collie-Smart.  There is a good friend of ours from the other thread.  Aussiegal who trains Australian Shepherds and she gave a quick diagnosis on Sadie during her early months and said she is a level up on her trainers.  LOL.  She said it in a very nice way but I know this dog is too smart for us.   We need to do what we need to do though.  we'll get her....

Good luck. I love our border collie mix, her name is Bonnie, and once she decides she is going to be a good dog, and listen, she is a dream to train. I've given up trying to train my dogs against the chickens, so the chickens are in a electric fence and haven't had any problems. Other than that though, she is a great dog. She comes when called........75% of the time. Stays........until you go out of sight. Sits......unless she sees a squirrel. Heels.........her specialty is breaking arms. Waits to be told when she can eat.......all the time. The one topic she is good at.

Advice?

I think we're going to have to shock collar train her to our yard.  Just got off the phone with Dad who's been on both sides of the fence. He has a neighbor with a deer chasing lab, who he does not care for.   

We are PITAs.  I know....

I definitely recommend a shock collar. My lab is a deer/rabbit/squirrel chaser and hollering did nothing but a quick nip on the neck and it breaks her concentration and she comes back. She is getting to the point now I can holler and she stops without a nip.

I also like it because it has a tone function. Good for calling the girls in when they are off wandering but not misbehaving without me having to yell loudly for them. Have trained them to come when it beeps.

I can only imagine how tough it must be to hear someone say they will shoot your dog and keep a straight face.... I would struggle to keep my composure. Best of luck to you and your training.

That's the same brand I use, I have a couple one for longer ranges and one for closer for hunting. Also I have the double dog one. It kept my dogs close when my dogs and I were young enough to hunt pheasants....

I am waiting for Layers to invite my dogs out to their place to hunt NoDak birds....

Did you get a deer layers? Or are you going to starve this winter?

We have both the sport dog and a petsafe wireless collar. It works on a radio signal so no wire to put down and you can adjust the circle radius. It is also nice because you can unplug it and take it with you to the Lake or where ever
