Surviving Minnesota!

Wow.. YOU guys have it rough. I thought it was bad here. I have turned into a wuss. I have not went to the bird show and am not sure if I will.

I thought it would have stopped by now, but nope it keeps on blowing and dumping on me. The radar shows nothing in New Ulm.

I have all the roosters in the van, and the hen cages in the car. The hens get along so I can cram them together.

It was indeed festal and it is no longer available unless they have brought it back with different pumpkins? He is an older article I found.

Looked this up Princeville is about 30 minutes away . Joan of Arc brand mostly made there or at least it used to be . Libby's is in Morton IL about 45 minuets away in other direction . Both grow Dickinson . I got a couple of squash gifted to me . It appears to be the Golden Delicious variety . Best squash I ever ate . You can still buy seed of Golden Delicious . The field I photographed is likely for Princeville .

Well wasted day today . Had the cyst removed . Took all day for a 5 minute procedure . Left at 9:45 got home about 5:30 . Sore nose and throat . They had me take some pills before . I think they came up during operation when I was on goofy juice .

No school today

It's also my birthday Turning 15
Happy Birthday Layers!

I might have overstated the niceness of the weather today....

Cluckies would you mind swinging over here and taking care of my birds?

This weather does not agree with my sensitive nature and body....Thanks
Oh, no... Sorry, just saw this post now, or I would have run right over...

Good Morning Chickeners . . . . It is still morning . . . . I have not caught up completely, I just did like the past two and a half days of reading.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ILL!!!

I am in Tallahassee in a gorgeous house on two acres of all privacy fenced property. Had to paint a little of the picture of the elegance. Sweet! And behind this property is another with chickens. The roos are rooing and the sun is shining and the natives tell me it is cooling off over the weekend. I asked my friend if she had listened to or seen the weather and it will only be 70 during the day and down to 50 during the night. We went down to the Marina yesterday and although we did not go out to the gulf we did the Marks River up and down in the afternoon. No one was on the river but us. Another Sweet!

DH is feeding, watering and gathering eggs at home. Right now I really, really like him right now.

Now this friend I am visiting is like my very BFF (that sounds so ridiculous to me) and it has been four years since she and her husband moved down here and I have never visited. I am closer to her husband's age who looks just like Liam Neilson (Nielson?) but unfortunate circumstances came there way after moving down here. A LONG story short - he became sick, got Septic, and had a septic stroke. All due to medical mal practice. She completely takes care of him. But they are 22 years difference in age and so she has more strength and stamina than an old woman like me, to take care of him. The two of them are a HOOT! He doesn't really talk understandably however, he is quite capable of getting his thoughts across and then one or two words will come out. Lottsa working with him went into where they are now.

Point being, yes, here I am enjoying both their company however life is not perfect and they just keep their attitudes in check daily.

So I come back on Monday, early, early. Shop my way home from the Airport so I have the foods for Thanksgiving and the rest of my week will center on a very simple brunch, Alice's Restraunt (Arlo Gutherie - annual KQ - usually at 10:30 - hilarious even if you do not know anything about Alice's Resturant - Highly suggest it) and obviously I have a hard time spelling that word - then the Viking's game and then the meal. Very much looking forward to it but will be reading and posting more when I get home.

Take care and stay warm!
Have a great visit lvie!

Don't say SNOW. I just finished up with a few chores and I don't appreciate how cold it is outside. I held strong and refused to put on gloves.

Found this on the trail cam:

Ignore the date. I haven't changed it yet. I have yet to catch a raccoon on the camera - only an owl so far. Maybe it's not a raccoon at all. I have yet to see any signs of digging or something messing with the chicken wire. No tracks either, but they would have been wiped out by the rain this morning. The ground is mostly covered by leaves anyways. No visible scat. I'm going to put some marshmallows out tonight and see if anything comes up for them. I did find my other bird.....for the first time ever, she was happy to see me. Lol
Sorry to hear about your one bird

Glad to hear you found the other!

I just looked at the temps for this weekend up there and Ralphie - sideways - really? I fixed up the water font and the heat lamp (put inside a metal frame hanging flower pot holder) because my chicks are wooses when I am gone - I am sure of it. Too Cold Too Fast. Truly wish I was there. DH seems to think it will be gone by the time I get home.
lvie... yes, no exaggeration, sideways, it has been terrible and sideways all day!

Sounds like a horrible time all around! Hope you feel better soon!

Happy birthday day ILL!

Today my mother and I emptied out the boys' room, cleaned it and then went and got the solid oak bunk beds my husband's parents bought back in1978 and they are awesome. People should really take note on how things used to be made. We left them down in separate beds and put new mattresses on them. It took us three bags of garbage and several hours but we got it done it looks so nice. The boys are extremely happy too. Oh and I sold the loft bed in 30 min on FB and it was picked up tonight! Win win!

Of course we checked out the chickens too. They are going to get some babies from us this Spring. So onto more mother daughter time tomorrow. But I sure hope the wind dies down! No snow here but terrible bone chilling wind.

Minnesota is making the news down here. Showing some of your blizzard scenes. Yipes! Hope all are safe & cozy warm....

Morning to all . Especially to those in the frozen tundra . Windy here also I see longville has 8 degrees forecast for Monday morning . Brrr

This weather is definitely not for the birds!! We only have about 6 inches of show, but a shovel full of it weighs about 75 pounds and wants to stick to the shovel. I knew I should have moved to the Banana Belt!!

Good Morning Chickeners . . . . Good for you Ralphie! I am glad you did go to New Ulm and can enjoy the show. Of course I know you will tell us the results, not making us wait like when you were at the last show. It was fun to hear each of you tell of your adventure last time.

MN3pt - I know! Right? Being gifted with well-made furniture is so fun! For the gifter and the giftee. And it feels so good to be able to see the floor again. Thank you Mom! So are the two of you together all week because of Thanksgiving or does she live close?
