Surviving Minnesota!

I'm sorry to hear about Dixie BC.

Earlier I didn't read BCs post first so thought u lost a bird named Dixie... Oops...

Sorry to hear @Bogtown Chick . I lost many birds this year and it can be a bit of a struggle. The happiness they get from free ranging is more important to me.

@jerryse , your lavender cuckoo is beautiful! It's the first time I've seen one.

@NathanZee or @holm25 , do you feed your ducks/geese straight feed in the winter or do you add cracked corn? Holm, I know you only have your confused Pekin right now =)

I ventured up to St. Martin yesterday for a family get together - Oh man was it foggy! Visibility was maybe 100ft. I don't get nervous driving, but I was surprisingly a bit on edge yesterday. We stopped to take a few pictures:

I checked the listings and Chicken People airs tonight at 10pm again. I know so many people in there so I have to watch it again. My mom was here and even she kind of got into it. Even on the quick blips where they didn't list names, I knew more than half of them.

I have 1 more Easter egger rooster to catch. Bugger is smart and won't even roost in the barn at night and I can't get close enough to get a catch hook on a leg either. Butcher day tomorrow... There's a couple of standard cochin cockerels that are off-colored so it will be interesting to see how they dress out or if its just all feathers.

jerryse... that bigger Leahy has 2 wafers too and they are harder to get at too. The right one usually controls the temp variance and the left one the actual temp. On my old Farm master, its on the front panel and all I have to do is pop the top off. The Leahy is a top mount, but behind the motor/fan unit so hard to reach.

Can you switch it to a digital thermostat? I have one to go into one of my 1202's, I hope in next few weeks.

I would like to put them in all of them, BUT Judy is holding the purse strings a little tight... She knows I am building a new hatching and brooding room....and am buying a couple more incubators so she is not letting me upgrade the old ones very fast..

I got 15 bags of chips at Fleetfarm yesterday, it is all I could get in the van with the other stuff I had in there.

I should have pulled a trailer and gotten 50 more.

What often happens in a 2 wafer system when you get a large temp spike is the primary goes bad and people often regulate with the backup wafer . When it finally goes bad you get the big temp spike . Sounds like you need 2 new wafers .

@MinnesotaNice I just give mine cracked corn and then start giving them a little layer around the middle of January so they can start getting ready for laying season...
