Surviving Minnesota!

He says they act like dogs and will come up to get rump scratches haha

I suppose they are like all of us, tired of scratching are own rumps, and willing to let someone else do it for us...

A guy up the road we know from the farmers market has mini donkeys that are awesome. They make great guardian livestock and I have thought of getting one. They are pretty fun to see
Too bad they do not protect chickens . I kind of like those little donkeys . Well maybe not enough to own one .

I'm following this other Chicken person on Instagram and I saw a chicken feeder hung so its base was just inside a larger rubber bowl. They are in the Pacific NW and have rats so she has to be careful with extra grain on the ground ...etc. As I was watching her video of the chickens eating I noted that all their crumble was going into that black bowl. So last night at Fleet Farm I bought the larger rubber bowl and dangled my feeder in it. IT'S working LIKE A CHARM!!! I just checked it at lunch time. The bowl was about 1/4 full of feed! I just dumped it back in the feeder and Voila I am saving cha-ching! $$$$$ I'm so excited about this and I know it's very simple...but literally I about cry everytime I clean out the coop and see what's under all the shavings...and that is FEED!

Thought I would share. Will remember to take a photo tomorrow! Crazy how easy this was to do.

You know - I get the same thing about being 'strange'. Why is that? It is perfectly normal to want animals around more than people

I have to think to myself 'No. . . you are the strange one . . . . "
