Merry Christmas all!
Bantiesrule I checked on this when I was going to take MrT into my flock. I needed to get Permission from Dr Voss and she wanted to know the reason I wanted a bird from a non-Wegby flock (NPIP.
I then had to test him before I could bring him in, which with turkeys is more of a pain than chickens because I needed to wait for the lab blood test and not just the rapid whole blood test.
Then if he was negative I could bring him in an quarantine him for 30 days, then I needed to test him again. Then bringing him in. That is the same procedure for chickens, I just got a letter from Dr Voss "reminding" me permission is needed before starting the process each year. I assume this was because I never brought Mr T into my flock.
My guess is she just has a direct line from the return desk to the incinerator. I am thinking I might have to implement this same return policy, Charge more or offer "rooster" insurance or something, take them back with a smiling face and kill them the second they leave the drive.
I had just recently checked on this again, I am a stickler for rules and regulations, because MnchickMom has that one rooster and I thought I might need to borrow it for its sperm. I was told I had to go through the whole thing all over again, even if it came from my flock to start with. She emphasized the need prior approval and the reason for it. I am not sure the reason I gave for wanting the PITA sperm was good enough.
I know not everyone tries to follow all the rules to the T, but I really do try, I guess it is a by-product of my career choice or my childhood where I was taught to follow all the rules.. I dunno,
Anyways long answer, like always to a simple question. remark. I just type way too much, also.
