Surviving Minnesota!

Well seems everyone is out enjoying the warm up . I was left unsupervised again and what did I do . I fell asleep in the chair after lunch . Such a disappointment . A missed opportunity !

Retired Man problems, Jerry. Retired man problems.

I was going to say a different word instead of Retired...but I thought I could get in trouble again.

Our hometown creamery will be featured on Fox 9 news. Many local farmers have put together resources of hay, calf and goat milk replacer, fence posts, etc for the victims of Kansas. Drop off was today, I think they were at 6 semis at noon.

Thanks Ralphie, I just hope that they find away to stop these people from engaging in drug deals in the neighborhood, it makes me nervous as we are gone most every day at work.

Was the drug house in Becker? I was just reading about a drug bust...

I sold another 2 dozen eggs this week. (I always like to keep 2 dozen in the fridge for me) With last week's sales and this week's sales I should have a bag of layer feed paid for from Fleet Farm. LOL. Egg Money is stashed in a Ball Mason Jar in my bay window by the kitchen sink. DH just shakes his head at me. I'm way in the red with this chicken hobby, but I like making a show of what little green we get from it.

Sylvia, My 5 year old SLW was on a nest this morning! She is so fabulous. I have no idea if she'll leave me an egg or not. But her comb had a bloody scab on it and maybe Junior and Sylvia know something I don't know. Go Sylvia! She hasn't laid an egg in over a year....so I will wait on bated breath. She is still leading the old hens around but the Blue Ameraucanas also like following her. I think they realize she knows what she's doing. Junior crows and crows at them. But will not cross the snow to join. LOL.
Snow should shrink for him here the next 4 days. Maybe he can get across soon.

MY DH sniggered when I told him your post BC. WE BOTH know that this is strictly a hobby for my part. His comment was that deer eat alot more but they don't **** on his patio. My response was attitudinal - get over it.

Okay, okay, okay. Tractor Supply Co had this little coop and run available for a couple hundred. The reviews were all good. I bought it. My reasoning: Regina is beat up on by the other hens - no lie. And I do not want her in the coop with 'Copper', the new boy on the block. Plus IF I am going to get any eggs from her I need to reduce her stress. And then hopefully Reggie will do his job and fertilize her eggs.
That is reason no. 1 - for Regina.

Regina, Elsa and Betty White (both are CW and Betty has a more grey neck and since Betty White kind of has a dirty-little mind I named her BW) are all small birds so they will each go into this new coop. Then the BO, who are so tame and gentle, will join the other three birds and Reggie will rule this roost.

Doesn't all that sound reasonable? I mean, I don't want to sound as if I am loosing my mind over chickens.

I HAVE TO redesign and replant (divide down and move) my gardens now so they will last til I die - I am going to incorporate this coop and run into the design work to incorporate it as lawn art. I would spend that much on a fountain for the yard. Its not like I do this every year. I think I will just be quiet and as soon as he goes up to Aitkin I will put it together. Besides, he spent more than that for a shed that will sit over the well pump in Aitkin. I am worth it. Lets see . . . . any arguments I am missing? This is a Ralphie.

So you bought something in a box that needs assembled without consulting your spouse . I totally understand . Sometimes it is better to beg forgiveness than to ask permission .

Some pics from my afternoon with the cows

This cow in the last pic might not be much to look at but she sure does raise a calf that catches the eye ;) we are lucky with a good group of cattle that raise calves that bring a great price in the sales barn.
