Jerry do you fill the tube? This guy looks like he is eating out of the tube or the top of it before he reaches in..

Yes I fill the tube . I did not have much luck putting scent in the bottom or a small amount of bait . It seems getting some free food first is what works best for me .

Ralphie has learned his one thing for the day .

Good morning Everyone!
Wow ralphie that's a lot of chicks!
On the trap topic our dog never really messed with our box trap and that's all we have and we have caught coons and skunks in it.
And speaking of trapping saw a muskrat yesterday, second one I've ever seen in my life and i shot the first one I know where he lives in thr creek and he is a fairly nice size so time to go sit by the creek and wait for him. I can't wait until this fall hopefully I can set some yote traps and shoot some with the 243. And of course deer season. I'm Hoping I see that huge 6x6 that looks like an elk again, but hopefully not from 1/2 a mile away...

The hens are hiding their eggs and I'm 90% sure they're eggs under The coop so I will have to block the one hole and dig another one for the rabbits as that's where they have some of their litters. Speaking of babies I started collecting Cochin eggs on Friday to hatch during the Hatchalong. And of course not a single Cochin laid an egg yesterday! And I'm waiting for the black cockerel to give semen yet.

I better get going as it looks like a nice day outside. It doesn't like windy look yesterday so maybe the chick can go outside for a little while, while I clean the brooder

Sent the daughter off to animal ethics class for 4h.

Hubby and son are cleaning the coop as I lay in bed with temp and cough. Went to urgent care, the doctor suited up before entering my room. Came home with Z-pack and cough medicine with codeine.

As for coons...we use the box traps, once we caught the neighbor dog. Saw a coon scoping our coop last week, called the neighbor with coon hounds but unfortunately he was too busy helping his wife with their new baby and 7 other kiddos. (I don't mind waiting for an excuse like that.)

Good Morning Chickeners . . . . I read everything to catch up with you guys before I post.

Ralphie - u have my sympathies. I woke up yesterday morning at 12:30 a.m. Ugh! Did you wash floors too? I can get alot done when I am up in the middle of the night because I am pretty angry after laying in bed for an hour and a half thinking that if I stay there I will fall back to sleep. Last night I took a melatonin before bed. Slept like a baby.

BC - LOL You have the right idea on St. Patty's Day. Did you eat the right food too?

Erli - yeah - pretty scary thinking about chicks freezing due to good-intentions gone astray. We are such mothers aren't we?

Erli and Holm and Ralphie - chicks to watch and hold. that is how it should be during this time of year

ILL- Holy Cats! We are waiting for Spring and you are talking about Autumn activities. LOL. I want warmth before skipping to the end of it and more cold weather. Too funny!

MNchickMOM - the Dr. suited up? I have never had the opportunity to see that happen except on T.V. You have the full deal! Hurry up and get better so that you can take care of the rest of the family as they get it. Its the way of Mom's huh? I hope you do get better soon.

Cluckies - I USED to scrapbook all the time. And I swear I will get back to it. I have it all as I used to be a CM consultant and hosted those weekend retreats. Now I quilt and do not intend to host anything but I do attend them. As for the Eczema - I looked it up in a Essential Oil manual from Young Living and first it told me that it is an inflammation of the upper layers of the skin that result in redness, itching, pain, or possibly blistering. It can be caused by contact with an allergen or irritating substance, fungal infection, dehydration or possible another medical condition. One comment says that it may indicate a sulfur deficiency. Anyway, some essential oils to use maybe thyme, patchouli, juniper, bergamot, geranium, lavender, pine, sage and pine lavender. Dilute them in an oil to create a massage oil and apply it And I recommend ACV - again - on a cotton swab and wipe it every so often. That ACV is a miracle cider for so many things. Hope any of this is useful.

Gonna go work on grandson's birthday quilt. Have a good day chickeners.
