Actually, this is false, Ralphie. Calendula flowers, Johnny jump ups, and violas are quite edible, and delicious. Many herbs also produce edible, yet pretty, flowers. chamomile makes brilliant tea from the flowers.Still can't eat the flowers..unless they are sunflowers.....
BTW an interesting (maybe side note).... My beans have not given me any beans all summer until the last 2 weeks...
now I am beaned out from eating beans every day.
The deer are still taking more than their share though...
Brooder is easy. Get a plastic tote or cardboard box.I've got room for 4 more hens. Was hoping to hatch with a broody gal this spring.
I like the idea of an incubator, but I'll need some sort of brooder and then space to allow for integrating into the flock.
@lvie I hear from the grapevine (located on co rd 4 and 5) you are getting a little CLB pullet. I saw the pullet the other day when I delivered some Dom Pullets.
I think you need to show her in Hutch, she is a nice looking bird, very proposed SOP. Most have come from a good breeder.![]()
Its the girls learning how to lay although I NEVER had the egg inside the cellophane egg. Its edible and interesting. After a while it will not happen anymore. Enjoy the oddity.DD turns 8 tomorrow. Need a gift. She loves the chickens. Ideas?
Broody is BEST! Maybe a different birthday present for eight because waiting for Spring and broody would be so worth it. 21 days of counting and then watching Mama with the chicks - wonderful! In my HO.I've got room for 4 more hens. Was hoping to hatch with a broody gal this spring.
