Surviving Minnesota!

It's Build day, Wedding day, Haul day, Clean day. Let's just shorten today to be Busy day. In one hour my family will be here to start building walls, sorting lumber. I will dropping the kids off at farm for last minute farm prep for wedding, who am I kidding the will be scraping manure and hauling in New shavings. Then haul DD to theater, back in time to put out parking signs and feed my family lunch. Then it is parking cars for wedding and wide open clean up /set up for caterer. I hope this wedding couple has good cold bee and enough of it because I'm not sure I will want to run get more.

:wee

I went t bed at 8. Not my usual behavior.

So what's the prize?

Jerry and Janet made it home yesterday about 6:45 I got a text.
So we'll p robably hear more from jerry now that he's connected to his wifi.

My Saturday is booked again with things that keep me away from my coop. I need to say no sometimes.
Peak fall colors out there. I want to get in a hike and coop duties. Perhaps tomorrow.
Have a great day all!

Good morning everyone.
Did not have school yesterday so we got a lot done. We redid the whole chimney piping, when my dad put it up after finished building the house he didn't have insulated pipe all the way through on top. We knew it would cause a problem, and it did, the whole last 3 feet of the pipe was all falling apart and clogged. Our fault for not getting up there and cleaning it, or doing it right the first time. But honestly it takes a lot to get up on the roof, I think it is a 8/12 pitch which isn't a lot but we have tin, so even getting up, and staying takes a lot. Especially in 30 mph winds. We also but the bucket back on the John Deere, which always takes a while. We also cut some wood, and then moved some lumber to a different side of a building so that we can fix and tin the roof.
Today my dad is not home, so I am hoping to get some coop stuff done. The coop is all cleaned but I have to do a few small things yet for winter. And to clall Rick Klehr about birds i

And a reminder to everyone to start draining those hoses! I do not know about MN but in ND it is getting very close to getting under freezing for most of the night!

Welcome Home, Jerry...

Have you decided to go to Hutch????:thumbsup:lau

I am going to do a Holm's Style Photo bomb.. These are the pictures from inside my cull pen. I am actually pretty happy with the culls. I just hope I picked the winners and not the losers. Culling is a summer long process for me. When I find one I don't like it moves to the cull pen...or worse yet the "Asian Lady's pen...

First is a picture of Hobble's feet, or lack of for Fake Eileen.

I had to lighten the picture to get the stubs to show.

This one has such an ugly scowl there is no way I could show him. He should move the the Asian Lady's pen. But I am keeping him as a possible breeder because of his back line, breast, tail set and huge white ear lobes. He is a tad young but should fill out nice.

This is a young Cockerel (PC) I might keep around for breeding. I can't say why, I just like something about him. He is too young to show.

A little White Legbar I really like, not sure if I will show her or breed her. The White Legbar rooster to the left is a nice bird other than his sprig.....darn darn darn...

A young SS.

Just a shot of a bunch of them.

Below are two pictures of the penciling on the one I moved to the show pens. One of her tail and one of her wing and back. Someone asked about her feathers. You can see they are wide, and have triple penciling that is pretty crisp, I think. (yeah, some could be a little better, nut no one is perfect on all of them,,,:lau)

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong, I had to bring a bottom of the class bird.

I hope I can fix the few damaged feathers she got when fighting me and the net.

Last is my white legbar hen. She is small, so I need to weigh her before I am 100% on her. Under weight by a pound is a disqualification....darn Anorexic birds!
